BIG ISSUE : KEEPING DIAGEO /JOHNNY WALKERS IN KILMARNOCK . ' THIS LAND ' BY THE 3 LOCAL LEGENDS OF DALRIADA AND ' NAMELESS ' BY LOCAL SINGER SONGWRITER ZOE LEWIS . I THINK THEY COULD ALMOST HAVE BEEN WRITEN FOR THE DIAGEO / JOHNNY WALKERS STORY AND WOULD LIKE THEM TO BE PLAYED AT THE FORCOMING SUPPORT RALLY IN KILMARNOCK ON THE 26TH JULY . This Toon -Look at the headlines , What do you see , Johnny Walkers is levin , Despite history , Down by the river , Below the willow tree , I’ll be waiting , So come and join me . Two many people , Cant afford to give in , So open your hearts , And minds , To the struggle there in . No mystical secret , The toons din , Wi nae Johnny , If you want , To keep him , Then fight , For what’s right . History’s all around you , Reach out and touch it and see , He belongs to this toon , And this toon is his destiny . You talk about Levin , Whatever the price , But are you aware , Of the personal sacrifice , Maybe some day , When you look back and see , There’s one place for Johnny , And that’s here we me . And its all around you , Reach out and touch it and see , He belongs tae this toon , And this toon is his destiny .Writing a book , involving the entertainment industry . One of my overall aims is to become a buisness consultant , within the industry . Therefore interested in all types of music . Mike Ogletree a love in my life , played drums with Edinburgh band Cafe Jacques when we met in 1977 . Mike stayed in Bruce Findlay the band managers Edinburgh flat . I spent some time with him there and at Rupert Hine's Farmyard studio in Bucks in 78 , during recording of the Jacques 2nd Album ' International .' Where I met the lovely and legendry Trevor Horn who produced the Album between the Farmyards Manor Mobile and Londons Trident studios . Rupert was an equally lovely guy and an instant Hero of mine - having recently toured with Joan Armatrading at that time . Bruce went onto manage Glasgow band Simple Minds and soon after Mike played drums with the Minds during their No 1 success with ' Promised you a Miracle ' and also played on the Minds New Gold Dream album . Mike then went onto play drums with Fiction Factory during their success with ' Feels like Heaven ' reaching No 6 in the UK charts and No 1 in Switzerland . One of my favourite pictures is of the Local Legendry Robbie Dale and Mike taken in Sirroco Recording Studios established by my old friend and Mikes old Soul mate - Producer , Musician and Songwriter Clark Sorley in the late 70's . Clark lead the way with Recording facilities in our home town and formed connections with several famouse names himself . Mike and Eddie Reader used to wile away the evening hours , in our old Fullerton St flat , singing and playing guitar on their songs . The rest for Eddie is history . She went onto get her breaks with Alison Moyet and Annie Lennox as backing Vocalist , success with the band Fairground Attraction and their song ' Perfect ' and continues success in her solo carear . I got my Black Cat Silvester from John , a Keyboard player at the legendry Mary Kiani's 21st birthday party . Mary worked along side Mike and Clark at Sirroco back in the very early 80's . Mary went onto enjoy a degree of success within the Music Industry . Although to my mind Mary has not yet reached the levels of Global success I think is possible . In more recent years Mary worked for a short time with another very dear friend of mine key board player Innes . Who put music to two of my own songs - writen for the Spice Girls . Mary's X John ( another John . ) co wrote last years X Factor winners song ' Moment like this ' sang by Leona Lewis . ' I give it all to you ' and ' I imagine how you feel ' are two of my favourites from Mary . When Clark moved on Sirroco became ' Shabby Road ' and Musical Haven to ' The Trashcan Sinatras ' for a while . In more recent times the premises were converted into flats . For now trafic passes on the buzy junction below with only a few people aware of the magical musical times gone past that helped lay down some of the early foundations for recording studios in Scotland . Sorley a man for whom surely - Global success awaits . Another star in my book is the local Tramp . You just never know who he / she are or who their claims to Fame may be .The pictures of my old home town Portsoy on the N/E coast of Scotland , were taken during 2007 - 8's Boat Festival .ONE OF MY FAVOURITE LOCAL ENTERTAINERS IS LOCAL , ORIGINAL , TALENTED AND BEAUTIFUL SINGER SONG WRITER ZOE LEWIS .ELKIE BROOKS WAS FANTASTIC IN CONCERT RECENTLY . Must have been a difficult choice -choosing the 1st single from this varied set . The Nameless album reminds me of the Garden of life . Filled with a variety of different and beautiful flowers .‘ Nameless ’ begins with ' Where have you gone ' reflecting a thunder storm with rain that will feed the pretty flowers during the warm Summer days . Then we have ' Not alone ' a boppy little number conjuring up the 1st of those warm summer days driving along the motorway - sun top down and all sorts of pretty gardens along the way . Then suddenly - the Sun goes down . ' Butterflies ' next . What can I say Roses in the moonlight . From one lover to another . Surrounded by Butterflies in the day and then by night - the Butterflies away and the scent of the Rose lives for ever . ' Nameless ' a haunting song to stir the soul of everyone . The flowers stand still waiting for the storm what will it bring . Rain to nourish them or wind to blow them down . The flowers sway in the rising wind then suddenly flattened in the wind and the rain . Its ok . They'll bloom again next year . Or will they . 'Going Home ' the storms over and out on the open highway were passing solid Oaks that cant be broken . ' Its a Mystery ' a great choice for a cover the rain drops falling one by one from the dazzled Leafs and Petals then exploding onto the unsuspecting earth below . ' The Jester ' tells all . The flowers that dance to welcome the morning light . The ones that smile in the noon day sun . The large Oaks that stand strong though it all . The Ferns that dance with the Blue bells in the woodlands the Strawberries ripe in the setting Sun . ' Nothing to loose' the darkest and the lightest of all to me . Showing the true genius of the Lewis duo . Begins with a dark Orchid on the blazing desert sands - waiting for the sand storm to drive the heat away . To the Eagle gliding above the dainty flowers on the snowy mountain top . Crossing the divide of all emotions . Until the desert and mountain tops . Hurt and pleasure . Dainty flowers and proud Orchids become one . From a genius point of view ' Nothing to loose ' is my favourite song from Nameless . ' Mindless Illusion ' Filled with Thistles and Desert Roses . Chilling North winds to Thunder storms in the Desert heat . In listening to ZOE LEWIS’S 2Nd album ‘ NAMELESS ’ I’ve realised what makes ZOE LEWIS something special . Her ability to reach and capture the heart of the Thistle and the Desert Rose in one . Her ability to reach and release our deepest emotions and let them dance freely in the heart of the rising Sun . Thanks ZOE . Well worth waiting for . To all of you who care to hear the ' Garden of life ' and all its emotions - portrayed in song I recommend you add ‘ Nameless ‘ to your collection . To those who don’t like flowers - dig deep for Zoe Lewis and have a listen anyway - you may find your heart even yourself nestling in a Rose Bud one day X X
