About Me

Guitarist. singer and harmonica player Jonathan Lovitt grew up in Mill Valley, CA and began playing blues onstage as a teenager at the "Blue Monday" show at Fairfax, CA's legendary Sleeping Lady Cafe. Lovitt branched out to Oakland's vibrant blues scene and played with many fine blues artists including Lowell Fulsom, PeeWee Crayton, Percy Mayfield and was a featured guitarist at Oakland's Eli's Mile High Club. Lovitt moved to Los Angeles in 1983 and in addition to a successful journalism career at USA TODAY, Hard Copy, New York Daily News, CourtTV and others, shared stages with J. J "Bad Boy" Jones, William Clarke, The Mighty Flyers, Rob Rio, Junior Watson, Coco Montoya,Roy Gaines, Lester Butler, Dave Alvin, Smokey Hormel, Gregg Wright, Aidan Pickering and many others. His searing leads and slide guitar magic mingled with authentic electric tone, rack style harmonica and gritty vocals are all hallmarks of his music. Lovitt returned to Marin county in 2005 and currently resides in Mill Valley.
