Conclusion: you know, it wasn't bad. We expected a lot of friends/family. The show started at 7:30 and I was hoping the place would be packed by 8pm or so. All and all, it was ok for being dead. We raised almost $1,000 between 50/50, silent auction, & general donations. People really go nuts over 50/50! The MOST touching thing occured: our 50/50 raffle winner was a lady who lives in Taylor and immediately after her ticket number was drawn, she handed the money right to Mel, "Here... this is for you." It was the kind of feeling where your heart feels like it was broken, but in a good way! Melanie's eyes filled with tears. We really couldn't have done it without Geo Marvaso, Mark Maze & his business partner Brian not to mention Leitchy, Sue from Chesley's/Lincoln Park, Mike D from Wicked Tattoos and SOOO many others. Special Thanks to Mister Mike as well. We had over $2,000 in donated items to be auctioned off! The best is yet to come: Mel will get her apartment and then the wonderful people from LET'S HELP OUT DETROIT who offered to help, could finally give to Mel and her children. Many things/lessons were learned during this process. ** The most important: the kindness of people **ITS TIME!!!!!!The Benefit Show for the House Fire Single Mother of 3 young children will take place tomorrow, Oct 3rd 7:30pm-Midnight. If you are financially strapped and can only come out to support and have fun, please do so in Westland at Marvaso’s Italian Grille…. www.marvasositaliangrille.com . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!There will be the great entertainer Mark Maze [ www.myspace.com/markamaze ] plus Mel’s two children would like to display their talents, but must leave around 9pm. Four year old Ashley will not be able to make it, Mel is afraid she would be scared with all of the happenings.Keep in mind:9-Midnight: 5% of Total Restaurant Sales will go directly to Mel and her kids!10:05pm Silent Auction, winner must be present to collect prize.
