Jair OB1

Odair aka OB1 Jair est né de parents cap verdiens à Porto (Portugal). Il a passé la première partie de sa vie au Portugal puis au Cap Vert à Praia.
Sa passion pour la musique commence dès l'adolescence avec son frère (DJ Aguia) qui lui donne goût au chant et à la scène. En 1996, il forme, avec des amis de son quartier, un premier groupe "Amigos Di Musicas". Les débuts sont prometteurs mais le groupe se sépare. Jair forme alors en 1997 un autre groupe, "Bisa Tama (Sabi Mata)" puis, avec un homonyme, un troisième groupe intitulé "2 Face". Il prend alors son nom de scène « OB1 Jair » acronyme de « Odair Be One Jair ».
Le tournant de sa carrière musicale est la rencontre avec Philip Monteiro lors du festival de musique de Gamboa (Cap Vert) en 1997. Philip Monteiro avec son single "sos colera" et la tournée du groupe La Tour connaît une notoriété grandissante au Cap Vert.
Fort de cette première production (La Tour - Critica), Philip Monteiro a plusieurs réalisations musicales en projet et cherche à s'entourer de nouveaux talents. De cette rencontre naît une envie de travailler ensemble et une solide amitié.
Après une première tournée en Mozambique en 1999, OB1 Jair rejoint Philip Monteiro à Dakar (Sénégal), ville où il réside. Il fait ses grands débuts en 1999 sur la compilation "Friends Lovers II - Casino Love" avec ses premières chansons "Lena", "Casino Love" et aussi "Nha Lamento" feat Nany ; chanson dont il est le parolier.
Cette première colloboration remporte un franc succès commercial puisque la compilation sera disque d'argent et de platine. S'ensuivent de nombreuses collaborations avec Philip et d'autres artistes (Gama, Paulinha, Nany, Penda, A.T.A Djudja, Rui Sangara...).
OB1 Jair est à la fois un artiste prolifique, avec pas moins d'une vingtaine de chansons à son actif et complet ; comme l'atteste sa faculté à passer du rap au chant sur la chanson "Inerta".
Parallèlement OB1 Jair a également écrit des paroles de chansons pour de nombreux artistes (Mika Mendes, An2, William, Nany, Samira, Zizi, Neusa…).
En 2007 Philip Monteiro décide de créer son propre label "The Ultimaters" regroupant en plus de son créateur, OB1 Jair et le chanteur G.G.
OB1 Jair nourrit de grandes ambitions puisque son premier album solo, est en préparation. Le titre provisoire retenu est "Ben Conchén". Sa sortie est attendue pour 2011.
Odair A.K.A OB1 Jair is originally from Cape Verde and was born in Porto (Portugal). Growing up, he lived in Portugal then moved to Praia in Cape Verde.
His passion for music started from his teenage years, with his brother. He first fell in love with singing and performing on stage around his teenage years thanks to his brother, DJ Aguia. In 1996, he created with some friends from the neighborhood, his first group, whimsically named : “Amigos Di Musicas”. The group has some promising beginnings, but they ended splitting. Jair then forms another group in 1997, “Bisa Tama (Sabi Mata)” followed later by another one this time with a homonym, named “2 Face”. He then takes up his stage name “OB1 Jair” which stands for “Odair Be One Jair”.
His career made a full turn when in 1997, he met Philip Monteiro at the Gamboa musical festival in Cape Verde. Philip Monteiro with his single “sos colera” and the tour with his band “La Tour” was experiencing a great success in Cape Verde.
So after his successful first production (La Tour – Critica), Philip Monteiro had several musical projects and was on the lookout for new talents. Their meeting led to a solid friendship and decision to join forces.
After his first tour in Mozambique in 1999, OB1 Jair joined Philip Monteiro at Dakar (Senegal), where he now lives. He made his great debut in 1999, appearing on the compilation “Friends Lovers II – Casino Love” with his first songs “Lena”, “Casino Love” and also “Nha Lamento” which lyrics he wrote featuring Nany .
This first collaboration with Philip encountered a huge success commercially since the said compilation earns a silver and platinum disc award. OB1 Jair goes on to working with Philip and many other artists (Gama, Paulinha, Nany, Penda, A.T.A. Djudja, Rui Sangara…)
OB1 Jair is at the same time a prolific artist, with no less than 20 songs on his record, and a complete one. This demonstrated by his ability to go from rapping to singing on the song “Inerta”. In parallel, OB1 Jair also wrote lyrics for many artists (Mika Mendes, An2, William, Nany, Samira, Zizi, Neusa…).
In 2007 Philip Monteiro decided to create his own label, “The Ultimaters”, with OB1 Jair, the singer G.G. and himself. OB1 Jair nourishes great hopes since he is currently working on his first solo album. The temporary title is "Ben Conchén" and the release is expected for 2011.
