Asher Goldschmidt is a Hungarian-born Israeli film music composer and orchestrator.
He has arranged over fifty songs in classical, avant-garde, folk, rock and jazz styles for orchestras that include; The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, The Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva, The Israel Sinfonietta Ranana, The Revolution Orchestra and also other smaller ensembles in Israel. He has co-operated with well known artists including; Amir Benayon, Idan Yaniv, Harel Skaat, Ninet Tayeb and Yizhar Cohen the winner of the 1978 Eurovision Contest, as well as the New York based jazz band, Third World Love.
Asher's music is heard in films at all major Israeli film festivals. He also composed music for the Israeli short film "Guided Tour" by Benjamin Freidenberg which won the Jerusalem International Film Festival in 2009, the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival in 2010 and has been screened in Locarno, Munich, Hamburg, Aubagne.
In 2008 Asher was invited to compose a cello solo piece as a curriculum for The 2009 Aviv Competition commissioned by the Adele and John Gray Endowment Fund for Young Israeli Composers of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.
He is first prize winner of the composition competition "Israeli Music of the 21st Century" and is a scholarship recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation for excellence in music – 2004, 2006 and 2008.
Asher has recently finished composing music for an Israeli documentary about Nissan Nativ directed by Shlomo Chayun/produced by Renen Schorr, and is scoring an Israeli feature film, "It's never too late" by Green Productions, directed by Ido Fluk.
