About Me

Kei- Key "Bu" is also known as the Fly Pimpstress from the Chi. "Bu" grew up in Chicago under the influence of her father Sonny Cool, who is a close confidant of George Clinton and his P-Funk Army dating back to the early seventies. Kei-Key "Bu" would attend Sonny Cool's rehearsals and performances of his R.A.W ( Rhythm Around the World) Funk Band as just a toddler, where she was always singing and dancing to their infectious music. That became a driving force for her own music. "Bu" began her career at only 14 years of age, she was asked to spit her flows on tracks, when Cool and his partner Q.C. were updating the sound of their catolog along with Parliament/Funkadelic's guitarist/singer Garry Shider recutting some of their music. If it takes a village to raise a child, what more could an artist ask forwhen the Godfather of Funk (George Clinton) joined the efforts in nurturing the development of her talent and career. In 1999, George Clinton and his son Trey Lawd recorded "The Good Shit" with Kei-Key "Bu" in Chicago, that later was also filmed for a future music video release. In addition to recording sessions during trips through town, in 2000 Clinton and other members of P-Funk first performed on stage as members of Kei-Key "Bu"'s band for Hollywood showcases at Martini Ranch and a Luna Park show that the Black Eyed Peas opened for them. Later that year Kei-Key "Bu" teamed up with her friends Secret Agent Bill, a young Punk/Alternative band, CO-writing their Punk/Funk/Hip-Hop song "Smoke That Dope". Parliament/Funkadelic members Blackbyrd Mcknight (Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock) and Mother Funk, Belita Woods (Brainstorm) came to Chicago for a couple of weeks to perform local showcases with Bu" and Secret Agent Bill including at Chicago's Hempfest. George Clinton liked the rock influences they combined, which resulted in his studio contributions to their track, followed by four more showcases he came to perform with P-Funk members in Chicago at Kustom and the Abbey Pub and in Hollywood at Dragonfly and 1650. Hollywood e-zine's Nate Nichols witness their performances and wrote a five chapter story "The Funk does Hollywood" still online at www.hollywoodfiveo.com where Nate covered to their adventures and how these Chicago kids came to the West Coast and blew it up. George Clinton has contributed vocals and lyrics on 5 of the tracks on "Bu"'s soon to be released "Wonder" CD. Co-producers on her project include her father Sonny Cool, Q.C. and Jeff Fogerty (CCR-Tom's son), with recording mixes engineered by Nate Oberman from Snoop Dogg's camp. Horn tracks were produced by Stewart Handley formerly of the SOS band. Members of the P-Funk Army have also performed with "Bu" on Hollywood showcases at the Gig on Melrose Blvd. All showcases "Bu" has performed with Sonny Cool including an Oregon showcase when they opened for Too $hort. "Bu" returned to Chicago and after giving birth and spending time with her daughter Kema, "Bu" is back with a vengeance, ready to bring her music to the people. A recent audition with BET for "106 and Park" brought their attention to her talent. "BU" performed her song "Break it Down" solo to her track, on their debut of "Cheers, Jeers and Tears" competition that will be taped lve at Spring Bling from West Palm Beach, Florida this spring.found this animated layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com
