About Me

COMPOSER LOOKING TO WORK WITH LYRICISTS/SINGERS TO CREATE QUALITY COMMERCIAL SONGS
“A composer who writes songs” – that’s probably the best description of how I work.
I’ve been writing music since my early teens, collaborated in various writing partnerships and worked in numerous bands over the years. I’m comfortable working in a variety of genres, using keyboards mainly.
Above all else I love the thrill and satisfaction of creating music.
When it comes to listening, I try to be open to all kinds of songs but I’m especially partial to the big, epic type. You know the kind; songs that are the musical equivalent of a fabulous five course meal; songs that you can immerse and lose yourself in or songs that grab you by the throat and dare you to dismiss them! I strive to emulate that feeling when I write (except possibly the throat-grabbing bit).
Of course the type of song that has the above effect is different for everyone – it really depends on what switches you on. For me a few examples would be… Al Stewart’s “Year of the Cat”, Judie Tzuke’s “Stay With Me ‘til Dawn”, Trevor Horn’s “Slave to the Rhythm”, Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek”.
I do occasionally write lyrics and some of the songs here are examples of various outpourings I’ve been inspired to make in the past, but normally I’d rather let someone else handle the words while I concentrate on the music, which is why I've included "On Ice", "All I Gotta Give" and "Nothin' I Won't Do" that I collaborated on with the very excellent lyricist, Dave Burn.
