About Me

"Nouvelle Vague presents New Wave… When Post Punk met Pop Culture"
...an inspired selection of 80’s new wave bands performing classic pop covers.
Compiled by Marc Collin & Gilles Le Guen of the phenomenal Nouvelle Vague comes an equally phenomenal album. This is Nouvelle Vague in reverse : new wave bands covering classic tracks of our time. Not a compilation for the sake of it, but an album breathing new life into one of the most controversial & back in vogue musical movements of recent times.
"Nouvelle Vague presents New Wave" features some of the great names of the 80’s –Visage, OMD, The Stranglers, Joy Division, Gary Numan- rendering their versions of classic tracks by The Rolling Stones, Bowie, The Kinks, The Velvet Underground, The Doors and others. Alongside these are more obscure bands : belgium’s Polyphonic Size, Antena from France, The Comateens from New York.
Perhaps most representative of the spirit of the new wave movement as a whole and this album in particular is Belgium’s Elton Motello deviant cover of Plastique Bertrand’s international hit, Ça plane pour moi. Or was it the original?!!??
This is a quirky, fascinating, illuminating insight into the weird and wonderful world of New Wave.
