Not only is he a master musician, simultaneously imaginative and thoroughly tradition centered, he is also a superb communicator. His captivating playing was immensely appealing to our audiences. And the memory of the glorious sounds of his instrument drifting out over our lakefront stage at dusk on a lovely evening linger on in my mind more than a year later.
