Vrse Murphy

About Me

As a tribute to the practices beat producer Vrse Murphy employs in his life, I decided to approach the writing of this introduction as he undoubtedly would have wanted: systematically breaking it down into separate and distinct parts (hi-hats tickin' like the 60 Minutes clock on a Sunday evening and you haven't even started your homework yet), while maintaining the highest standards of orderliness and organization the whole time cracking a bullwhip and crying, All ahead full! with all three sheets sturdily bent to the wind. This is the end of the first part.
Ideally, if space allowed, there would be a graphic indicator running down the side of this page to mark the reader/listeners progress. Because, just as Vrse doesnt have tolerance for ambiguities when dropping the needle and snatching a precise selection, at no time should you find yourself uncertain about how much youve read and listened to. At this point, for example, youd know youre thirty-nine percent done reading the intro. Meanwhile, Vrse is tucked away in his French Open Studio at Roland Garros discussing the acoustic difference of the clay courts versus the grass at Wimbledon, summoning the ghost of Rod Laver, mixing a Friendly Neighbor cocktail (7Up and Jack Daniels) with Don Prince(Chris Evert Llyod's serve coach). This is the end of the second part.
This intro also requires the inclusion of some specific expressions in homage to Vrses interesting use of words like frrrnt and pregs de carlos. What follows is term number one:
Fanatic; somebody who has extreme and sometimes irrational enthusiasms or beliefs, especially in religion or politics (the dictionary didnt mention hip hop beats).
Term number two is the antonym of term number one, its meaning diametrically opposed to it:
Dabbler; somebody whose involvement with something is superficial, rather than serious.
It must be noted (especially by you ladies) that Vrse does not dabble; he is fanatical about everything he does. His percussion composition and exotic sample arrangement (courtesy of his record collecting abyss) has been the soundtrack to many skate and snowboarding films (Thrasher, Mack Dawg Productions, FHS, Robotfood, Ride Snowboards, Vans, etc.), not to mention party rockin' rap songs (Sacred Hoop, Z-Man, Neila, etc.), take on a significant godly hue, splashing rum around the deck while the natives board his vessel offering a roasted pig and other festive tokens of their affection. Part three complete.
To wrap up this introduction, with which you are now eighty-five percent finished, please make positively certain that youve read every word thats been presented to you with no skipping around or reading between the lines. Stay focused, and you will achieve the goal of completing this final paragraph, then on to the web-page itself, paying special attention to the instrumentals and their accompanying photographs. Thats exactly how Vrse Murph would have mapped it out for you. Emulate Vrse, dont dabble your way through these eternal soundtracks, get fanatical about them. This is the end of the intro. Luke Sick signing off.
