About Me
Hi there and welcome.I make hand tied Bitless Rope Bridles/Hacamores/Sidepulls Ridding hHlters... whatever you want to call it! It is a a hybrid of a regular hand tied rope halter (obviously), two styles in any sizes and many colors. I use only New England and Sampson rope brands and I gaurentee these bridles will last for many years to come. In fact, if the rope EVER breaks due to normal use I WILL REPLACE IT FOR FREE! Just remember your order number. For questions or to place an order please Email me. I am more than happy to answer any and all questions about my bridles.MY GOALTo establish a fund to help pay for the rescue of unwanted, slaughter bound horses in the USA. All profits will be put tward the rescue of these horses. These Bridles are best suited for pleasure ridding or light arena work. As easy to put on as a halter and as easy to clean as a tossing in the washing machine; just hang to dry! This is what I use with my 5y/o Quarter/TB mare & 6y/o Quarter pony mare and we all love it. In fact I replaced my regular rope halter with this, I slip it on, we groom, saddle up, warm up and we're off.
ABOUT THE BRIDLESEach of my Bitless Bridles is complete with Headstall, Jaw band and a pair of split reins (there is room to add a lead if you wish) attached to the soft bosal (or side-pull, whichever you choose). The Bosal/Side-Pull and Reins are made from the same continuous piece of double braid rope (not just tied or clipped onto an existing rope halter) and allow clear communication. The noseband on is double wide, for even pressure distribution. I do take special requests when possible.STRENGTHRope is strength tested: 3/8": 5,700lbs average.SIZESEach bridle is hand tied to your horses measurements From mini to Draft (standard sizes also available) and are adjustable in several locations for a perfect fit for every horse. Constructed of high quality New England or Sampson double-braid rope. They will not rot or fade. Ask about available colorsMEASURING1) Nose-band: Around the face where the bosal or side-pull is to sit, usually about an inch or so below the jawbone. (adjustable 2 inches minimum)2) Cheek Piece: Measure from the nose band up along the cheek to the base of the ear.3) Throat latch: From the base of one ear, under the throat up to the base of the opposite ear. (adjustable 2 Inches Min and can go as a brow band too)4) Reins: Standard reins are 7ft, if you would like a different length, just let me know!HOW IT ALL STARTEDThe whole reason I started to make these came about while training my (then) 4y/o. She had all her groundwork down and was doing great in a halter bareback or under saddle. She was very accepting of the bit and would always take it well, but was loosing her focus, during ground work, almost constantly tossing and shaking her head, constant chomping etc. I noticed this same head tossing every time the bit was in, her whole demeanor seemed to change, I could just see it in her eyes that she didn't like it. I had her checked by a dentist and vet. I tried several "gentle" bits to see if maybe it was just the wrong bit, but had no luck, she just didn't like having them in her mouth. I don't blame her! That got me to thinkin'... Do I even need to use a bit? After researching the topic I decided I didn't want to.I searched and searched for a new bridle, but all that I found were either too constrictive or too EXPENSIVE! So I started to work on a solution and this is what I came up with. I tried multiple designs, including cross-under style and found the soft bosal and side-pulls to work the best. They have the clear communication I wanted and the control is still there if I need it.Within literally a day she was like a different horse. She responded correctly to her cues from the ground, and when it came time to try it from her back it was she gave all the right answers. I ask for a hindquarter yield, she yields, I ask for a back, she backs, I ask for a side pass, and she side passes. One rein stop? No problem! No more throwing her head or confused frustrated tries. When it comes time to hit the trail she is eager to go out really enjoyes her job much more.TIPSJust be sure to take the time to introduce them to it properly and you shouldn't have any problems. If your horse is halter broke, you should be able to put it on and go. But please keep in mind that this is not a "cure all" for problems, it is intended to make simple communication easier between you and your horse.FEEDBACK.. Friday, August 24th 2007, 7:05 PM
I am so glad you have done this. I have a solid paint mare that lost her tongue as a foal. A vine got wrapped around her tongue, by the time her owners found her, it was too late. Can't put a bit in a horse's mouth that has no (very short) tongue. She is coming up for training soon. You will be hearing from me.
