About Me

Welcome to the Production and information site of the forthcoming theatrical production called The Nose - it's all about me!I launched myself at my first public experience at the Burlington South End Art Hop in Early September 2007: The Gogol Smackdown! Along with my friends, I danced, I sang, and I attempted a Russian dialect! I handed out over 300 handbills featuring the original artwork of local artist Justin Atherton.I then appeared in the First Night Parade in Burlington and danced and waved my way down Church Street, handing out 500 buttons with art about me!I was also present at the Winter is a Drag Ball, handing out close to five hundred buttons and 250 handbills!I will next be seen at The Big, Bad Box Variety Show on may 23rd, 2008 at Club Metronome, and Gogol Gourmand, May 28th at Flynn Dog Gallery where we will have a catered Russian dinner by the Outer Space Deli and reveal the winners of our Raffle! If you want raffle tickets e-mail me at the [email protected] and we'll work something out :)The Nose had found a cast: Josh Bridgman as The Nose; Ethan Alsruhe as Major Kovaliov; Alex Dostie as Ivan Yakovlevich; Laura Wolfsen as Aleka Aleksandrova Podtochina and Praskovia Osipovna; Tracey Girdich as Madame Aleksandra Grigorievna Podtochina; Michael Jordan Evans as Inspector Astrovsky; Rebecca Reil as Councilor Chekhtariova; Jeff Campoli as The Advertising Clerk; and Jordan Gullikson as The Storyteller! The Nose has found designers: Aaron Masi as The Director, The Producer and The Writer; Tracey Girdich and Michael Jordan Evans as The Other Producers; Connie Coleman as the Production Manager; Sara Glasgow and Rebecca Reil as The Make-up Designers; Jeff Campoli as the Sound and Music Designer; Some Unknown Guys as The Band; Alex Dostie as The Set Designer; Marlo Wamsganz as The Website Designer; Justin Atherton as the Art Designer, and Brad "Bear" Ingalls as The Lighting Designer. The Nose is seeking The Stage Manager, The Assistant Stage Manager(s), The Board Operators, and Other Individuals as Needed (The Ushers, The Ticket Takers, The Lay-abouts, and People to Sit in Seats). The Nose will take place June 19-21 and 26-28 at FlynnSpace at the Flynn Performing Arts Center, Burlington Vermont. Shows are at 8 PM with Saturday matinees at 2 PM as well. Tickets are on sale at www.flynntix.org or by calling (802) 86-FLYNN. Tickets are $20.00.Rehearsals will begin May 20 and run through the Final Dress Rehearsal on June 18.My production will be work-shopped prior to the rehearsal period to emphasize the idea that the theatrical elements (lights, sets, make-up, etc.) being used will be hyper-integrated, that is to say that they will become part of each other in a way that goes beyond traditional norms. All the elements individually and in combination are important to high quality theatre. Blending these elements by combining certain aspects of them integrally within other aspects creates a deeper unity. Here's an example: An actor wearing a costume that hyper-integrates with the set thereby creating an acting experience wherein the actor must wear not only her costume but her set and properties, possibly her lights, for her scene creates multiple opportunities for the actor to augment her regular approach to her art; the same goes for the designers in their imagination and implementation. This property of hyper-integration will be the paramount artistic experience of the production and in part it will more vigorously engage the audience.Prepare for a smart, hysterically funny and absurd political satire saturated in early-19th century Russian culture. The inspiration? The tales of Nikolai Gogol. This theatrical production will be filled with grotesque characters, innovative audience experiences and participation, and laughter!I am an inspired vision of me coming to life.
