The origin for HIGH WIRE began in 1987, with a band started by Guitarist Doug Traser and Bassist Steve "St. James" Calderoni in Antioch, CA, called FELONY. In 1989, they were joined by San Francisco based Guitarist Carlos Delgado and drummer Robert "Taz" Belt. The band changed its name to HIGH WIRE in the summer of 1989. East Bay based Singer Michael "Kelly" Larsen joined the lineup in October of 1989.
The band fused many different styles together to make a hybrid of glam, metal, punk and alternative. HIGH WIRE played for two and a half years in the San Francisco club scene, playing support to many touring acts of the time and headlining their own gigs, highlighted by an aggressive stage show and a frequent game of one-upsmanship between Kelly and Steve, seeing who could put out the most energy and still walk by the end of the set (it was frequently a toss-up between those two :) ).
In May of 1990, Doug Traser left HIGH WIRE and was replaced by Guitarist Marc Blackmer. Mark performed with HIGH WIRE until January of 1991, at which time the group became a four piece with Carlos handling all guitar work. In March of 1992, Taz left and was replaced by Drummer Randy Aldred. HIGH WIRE changed their name at this point to VANISHING EDEN. In September of 1992, Steve, Carlos and Randy moved to Los Angeles. Kelly left the band at this time, and with that change, VANISHING EDEN became MIND TRIBE. They played for about a year as a three piece, with Carlos handling guitar and vocals. MIND TRIBE split in 1993.
HIGH WIRE was a meeting point of different styles; Doug's glam metal guitar, Steve's funk bass, Carlos' jazz riffs and leads, Taz and his R&B and rockabilly drum style, Marc with his Hendrix-inspired rock and blues, and Kelly with his love of alternative and goth combined to make a unique sound and a band dedicated to entertaining and putting on the best show they knew how to do.
HIGH WIRE and Demon Doll/272 Records have made an agreement to release many of the songs listed on this page, and some that haven't been. First out the gate is "No Room In Heaven" which is now featured on "Glamnation, Volume 5". HIGH WIRE's full length CD, "No Room In Heaven" was released on April 20, 2009 and is AVAILABLE NOW!!!
