the difference between unity and division

About Me

Photos will be up soon, and more music is on the way too.Heroes: heroes are people who stand up for what they believe is right (as long as nobody is maliciously hurt in the process). Most of them are rejected by society but they are the true heroes who are pure at heart, they're all heroes of ours.THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISING PAGE FOR CORPORATE COMPANIES THAT ALREADY MAKE MILLIONS, SO IF YOU POST COMMENTS LIKE 'omigosh, I just got this new ipod phone from suchandsuch' IT WILL BE DELETED!!So we're Astral Void, we hope you like our music (at the moment - just in acoustic demonstration form) Please only add us if you like the music, and subscribe to our blog as that is how we will keep you updated on developments. Also, it would be awesome if you could ask your friends to check us out, as word of mouth is everything. Please leave us comments too if you like the music as it makes us feel all warm and cheery inside (and will comfort us into writing age-ing pensioner orientated genteel love ballads - or maybe not). We're not a statistics band - we want loyal fans who will come and see us and who will stick with us, in return we will do our best to keep giving you good genuine music direct from our hearts to yours. What the fuck is this lad culture all about, you do silly stuff to impress your mates and get popular (you bully kids at school, make people's lives a misery generally) and in the end all your mates get tied down with a family and don't have time for you any more. So you have to ask 'was it all worth it??' The lad culture just upsets people who aren't in your little groups so have some consideration. If those in your group won't be friends with you if you don't take the piss out of someone whos face doesn't fit/ are a bit chubby then is it really worth having them as true friends?? True friends stand by you and if they do have an issue with you, they address it behind closed doors. There are a lot of 'quick buck' bands around at the moment - the 'manufactureds' as we like to call them. Indie bands jumping on the bandwagon of bands like The Manufactureds. If you're going to copy something, at least copy something decent! Also what the fuck is this retro trend all about?? Music must be carried forward not back!! Our generation lacks it's own identity, history will look back on us all as 'the wannabe generation'. The 50's had rock n' roll, 60's had mods, 70's had punks, 80's had it's own unique style (!), 90's had grunge then Britpop then hip hop, early 2000's had Nu-metal, and what do we have?? Emo isn't exactly a fucking identity, it's an in crowd trend, and none of the trends that are in crowd are remembered - or fun. Though some 'apparently emo' bands are fantastic. We'd much rather tour and reach our true fans rather than have loads of 'hangers on' Just because we're a trend at that moment. If we do become a trend though, it could be an ideal opportunity to challenge many widely held judgemental views that we believe to be unjust. Lots of people will never change but that doesn't stop us giving up.In our view judging someone on the colour of their hair is no better than judging someone on the colour of their skin. It makes no difference to what is inside. But yet people judge others on their hair colours, or dress style every day - at work, at school, job interviews. Surely this does not affect someone's ability to do a good job?Astral Void are not a political band. But there are so many injustices in the world that make us soooo fucking MAD that drive much of our music, there are things that make us happy that drive our music, then feelings of insecurity, isolation, and fear that drive other songs.Overall, music is freedom. Astral Void is primarily a music band - we love punk but don't let that tie us down to it. Only free spirits haunt this house. Please have a look at our friends at United Moshers - their support to us and other bands has been very valuable and appreciated and if you're in a band we recommend giving them a look and seeing what they can do for you :)

Band Members: Andy Martin ( vocals and rhythm guitar)Looking for musicians to rebuild and tour so if you’re too romantically attached to a job or any other commitments, this isn’t going to be right for you. A similar viewpoint to mine and being a bit silly and irresponsible would help a lot. I am looking to tour and release a record on an indie label and have a laugh with it, anything more happens it’s a bonus, so I’m not looking for someone who’ll do anything to get famous!! but Andy is also performing around acoustic but if you identify with us, like the music and can play an instrument with an open mind and are not a musical snob (unless it’s against this so called indie), A good scream/ abilty to do backing vocals would be great too - you’re welcome to get in touch - whoever or wherever you are. Ages 18 - 24 preferred, own transport would also help :)

Our tastes may move on and develop but you can't change history and even if you hate that song now - it's the song that's been a big part of your life. Smells Like Teen Spirit first inspired Andy to pick up a guitar and without it - none of this stuff would exist! And a special mention for 'bandwagon' bands, The Manufactureds, just jumping on the retro bandwagon, hearing POP GROUPS (i.e. posed as rock, but are they bollocks) calling themselves indie like this with no passion has pissed us off so much it's really making us ensure that the passion is encrypted into our music, or at least we do our best to be uncompromising bastards, we have more fun that way!!
Sounds Like: Make your own mind up, it's not for us to say xREVIEWS:From acoustic set at the Plough, Norwich - 15th December 2007Next was Astral Void. Singer, songwriter and guitarist Andy Martin (also in Red Leaf) sung his own compositions. He is in the process of forming Astral Void into a band but with the loss of the bassist, this night he played solo. Tracks varied widely in their style, and diverse in their lyrics but each one written from somewhere deep within. By half way through the set he had people joining in with choruses. Two of the tracks had only been written that week, but they sounded really good heart felt lyrics and nice tunes. The last track though seemed a little disjointed, a mix of too many styles which unlike a lot of his other tracks seemed to have trouble flowing beween one to the other. (Note - this track has now been effectively ditched - it could work for someone - but it's not working for us)Also on the bill - Treeface, Dollar ShortFrom solo set at King Edward 7th; 17th Febrauary 2008Astral Void is a one man band who categorises himself as "punk rock ethicky thingy" (you could be on to something there Andy!!). However there is no void in Andy's music or style and is certainly something different for a change! Although punk is coming back BIG time, lets be honest, a helluva lot of it sounds the same but Andy successfully puts a different bit of "thingy" into his performance! Although Andy is currently looking for other band members to join him on his mission it should be pointed out that he does perfectly well on his own! He can still be seen to be a teeny weeny bit unconfident in his manner at times but Andy my boy, you have no need to be! Go out and belt it out loud and proud!!!
