The Scarlet

About Me

Biog:The Scarlet started around 2 years ago almost by accident. Babs and Grant had just started working together in the local pub and were talking about music. They discovered they had a mutual appreciation of good songwriting and planned to practice together. Initially they worked on some covers with Grant on guitar and Babs singing, but it didn’t take long before they began to write together.
The group has grown to also include Andy on bass and Graeme on drums. The four members are currently gigging together, as well as writing and recording a new e.p which has yet to be titled.
Bluesbunny Review:
Something more conventional next with The Scarlet. A four piece band, they play an aurally pleasing blend of indie pop. "Take Me to Tokyo" opens their set and sets the tone for their songs. Well constructed, this band would seem to be right in the commercial groove. Lead singer Barbara Bland's vocals have a warm, almost dreamlike quality that makes you wish she would sing you a lullaby. Their best song, to our ears, was the haunting "You Get Me". If you want a comparison, The Scarlet come across like a less boisterous version of The Hussy's and are none the worse for that. Certainly, Bluesbunny would like to hear them again. Like we said, easy on the ear. MyGen Profile Generator
