HI AND WELCOME, THANKS FOR STOPPING BY. I AM PAT SHARKEY,BETTER KNOWN AS "JAWS" AND MUSIC IS MY FIRST LOVE. I STARTED PLAYING THE DRUMS IN 4TH GRADE AND CARRIED ON ALL THROUGH MY SCHOOL YEARS, WHILE ALSO STUDYING WITH A GREAT DRUM TEACHER.I STARTED PLAYING PROFESSIONAL AT 13,PLAYING CLUBS AND BARS,I MOVED FROM ONE BAND TO ANOTHER AND WHEN I WAS 18,1 LEFT HOME TO PLAY FULL TIME ON THE ROAD. I HAVE BEEN VERY LUCKY TO HAVE MET SOME GREAT MUSICIANS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS.I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO PLAY FOR THE COWSTILLS AT THE PORTLAND OREGON MEMORIAL COliSEUM WHEN I WAS A YOUNG MUSICIAN IN THE 60'S. IN THE 70'S I GOT TO MEET JEFF BECK,I WENT INTO THE STUDIO WITH HlM,AND NO, I DID NOT RECORD WITH HIM AND I REALLY WISH THAT I HAD, IN 1974,1 WAS ASKED TO PLAY DRUMS FOR "THE PLA TTERS".I GOT TO TOUR ALL OVER CANADA AND PLAY AT SOME GREAT CARARETS.I ALSO MET UP WITH SOME VERY FAMOUS PRO WRESTLERS WHO WOULD PARTY WITH US AFTER A GIG, THEY WERE CRAZY AND FUN TIMES BACK THEN. OVER THE YEARS,I PLAYED WITH THE ORIGINAL BASS PLAYER FROM "RAT" AND ONE OF THE GUITAR PLAYERS FROM "FOGHAT"WHO I ENDED UP ON TOUR WITH IN OUR OWN BAND. I PLAYED AT MANY OREGON OUTDOOR CONCERTS AND SHARED A DRESSING ROOM WITH "THE EAGLES" AND "FIREFALL".I HAVE MET SOME GREAT PEOPLE AND HAD A LOT OF FUN ALONG THE WAY. WHAT MORE COULD ANYONE ASK FOR..I HAVE ALSO SPENT MANY HOURS IN RECORDING STUDIO'S,AND I FOUND OUT WHY SOME BANDS LIKE THE RECORDING STUDIO SO MUCH-THEY CANNOT PERFORM LIVE,I WASTED A YEAR FINDING THAT OUT ,IT WAS A COSTLY MISTAKE. I HAVE ALSO BEEN HEAD DRUM INSTRUCTOR FOR A LARGE MUSIC CHAIN. I GOT SERIOUSLY INJURED IN 2000 AND BROKE BOTH HANDS-- YES BOTH! AND AFTER 2 YEARS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY,I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A SERIOUS OPERATION,BUT BEING THE STUBBORN IRISH MAN THAT I AM,I WAS DETERMINED THAT I WOULD PLAY AGAIN,IT WAS 6 YEARS BEFORE I COULD HOLD A PAIR OF STICKS AGAIN WITHOUT SCREAMING IN PAIN AND EVENTUALLY WITH HARDWORK,GRIT AND DETERMINATION I MANAGED TO PLAY FOR 1 HOUR, THEN MORE AND I DECIDED TO GIVE IT A SHOT,I KNEW IT WOULD TAKE TIME FOR MY ENDURANCE AND SPEED TO COME BACK,BUT NOTHING WAS MORE WORTH THE FIGHT THAN FOR THE LOVE OF BEING ABLE TO PLAY liVE AGAIN,ITS AN AWESOME GREAT FEEliNG. THE EMPTYNESS I FELT IN MY HEART WAS STARTING TO HEAL. DO I FEEL AS IF I WILL EVER BE THE DRUMMER I WANT TO BE--HELL NO! THAT'S WHAT MAKES MUSIC SO GREAT. FOREVER TRYING TO REACH THE SUMMIT AND HAVING FUN TRYING TO GET THERE. GROWING UP I WAS INSPIRED BY SO MANY DRUMMERS,MOTOWN AND LATIN WERE SOME OF MY FAVOURITES THEN LATER CAME SOME OTHER GREAT DRUMMERS,A LONG LIST BUT MY TWO FAVOURITE ARE BUDDY RICH AND JOHN BONHAM, WHO WAS VERY FAR AHEAD OF HIS TIME,AND HE IS STILL A GREAT TEACHER AS TO HOW LESS CAN BE MORE AND THE RIGHT TIME TO EXPLODE AS A DRUMMER. I WOULD NEVER DARE COMPARE MYSELF WITH ANY DRUMMER AS I AM WHAT I AM AND I ENJOY DRUMS, THEY ARE A DIFFERENT WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE WORLD IN A LANGUAGE WE CAN ALL UNDERSTAND AND ENJOY. BUT I WOULD BE HAPPY IF SOMEONE LIKES MY PLAYING AND THEY UNDERSTAND THE FEELINGS I AM TRYING TO EXPRESS AND THAT IT MOVES THEM JUST A BIT.I HAVE DONE ALL SORTS OF THINGS IN MY LIFE -I.E JANITOR,SALES MGR,STARVING ARTIST( I DID MANAGE TO SELL SOME OF MY WORK) AND I KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT STARVING ARTIST LOL!! BUT THE BEST JOB I EVER HAD IS STILL THE MUSIC BUSINESS,ITS WHAT MAKES ME COME ALIVE EVERY DAY. MY FUTURE- I CAN SEE MYSELF AS AN AUTHOR,SONGWRITER AND MUSIC TEACHER AND PLAYING IN A BAND,AND SOMEDAY RETIRING IN MY FAMILY'S HOME TOWN OF MOHILL IN SOUTHERN IRELAND WHERE I WILL WRITE A BOOK OR 2 OR 3 ..1 AM LUCKY TO HAVE HAD A MOM THAT WAS HIGHLY TRAINED IN MUSIC AS A PIANIST AND A GREAT ARTIST TO BOOT ,AND MY DAD THAT BOUGHT ME MY FIRST DRUM KIT AND PUT UP WITH HOURS OF MY POUNDING HEHEHE!! AND TAUGHT ME ALL THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT MOTORCYCLES..I LOOK FORWARD TO MANY MORE ADVENTURES ALONG THE WAY AS A DRUMMER/MUSICIAN/DRUM EDUCATOR. PAT SHARKEY IS A WELL RESPECTED DRUMMER IN THE STUDIO. LIVE AND IN CONCERT.
