The name is Pedro Morillo, because of my bboy career you all know me by my alias of Cikmode or Cik for short. I play around with my dance name a lot, I’ve gone under as Cikness, Killa Cik, Cikness Monstah etc etc. I was born on Thursday January the 10th, 1985. I was introduced to bboyin back in 1998 but never really got down because of the fact that 1. I was too young, I was 13 years old. 2. My Parents had me on the ill dominicano lock down, and 3. I didn’t know anyone who was dancing so I can learn from anyone. Funny thing is the way I was introduced to the dance was thru a video game. Before breaking, I was a video game dork. All I did was play video games and later on in the years I had and hosted my own public access tv show on video games. One day I baught a game called “Bust-A-Groove†and they had a bboy in the game named “Heatâ€. Homeboy Heat was banging windmills, jackhammers and shit and I was like WHOOAAAAAAAA whats that?!?!?! My dude at the time who I hung out with and was my co-host for my tv show who went by the name of Ralfy aka Greyfox told me that’s breakdancing. From that day on we wanted to learn but had circumstances that didn’t allow us too. As the summer of 1999 came thru, I landed a summer youth employment job in a church with a few of my junior high buddies and met a few bboys there. I met a dude named Pierre who was teaching a few of the niggas there six steps and what not. So I was there and tried to learn a bit. That same day I was introduced to Pierre and another guy who in the long run ended up being one of the illest cats I ever met and got so cool with who went by the name of Luigi aka C3PO who is now know as the Infamous Backspin King MACH3. I was told he was a bboy, I saw him get busy and was like yo he’s dope! As time went by I learned my six step from Pierre, C-Cs and baby freeze. Me and Greyfox were both learning and teaching each other any thing we learned from anyone. We also had a video Pro-Am 97 and we saw that video religiously. We bit so many moves off that vid is not even funny haha. What do you expect, noobs tend to do that. So later on that summer I heard of a TV show called Kamikazee Fly which they showed video games and they showed break dancing as well. They had a bboy on the show who went by the name of Chino, who is Chino from Breaks Kru. I saw Chino and I was like holy shit that niggas doing mad crazy shit. So in my eyes that was the illest bboy I saw at the time. Later that summer I also met over 20 bboys who lived blocks from me and practiced in the park across the street from my crib. Its funny I was trying to break dance and learned and couldn’t find anyone but breaking found me regardless. So I started practicing with those doods in the fall of 1999 but those doods saw me and Greyfox as the wack niggas. Those dudes went under the name as A.B.P (Absolute Breaking Power). Their members consisted of bboys like Skinny, Serious1, Arthur aka Trunks, Monty, Stephen(serious lil bro) and they would dance with a linoleum at the park every day. They were cool cats. So I tried to get down with em but because of my parents and the lock down I was not allowed to step outside and especially not to break. To my parents especially my father, bboys were all potheads and doesn’t want me to be a part of that (which in the end through experience, I learned he was right). I spent 11 months with out breaking, grayfox on the other hand continued since he had more liberty then me. I didn’t have nothing with bboying until one day I was introduced to a video called BreakBeats: Breaks crew Vs. Rocksteady. When I seen that shit man I was like yooooo I need to start breaking again and get nasty! So it was the summer of 2000 now, and I hit up greyfox like yo I wanna break man wassup, he told me to hit up the park since it was warm and niggas were breaking on the linoleum. I would go and niggas showed me love. I gave up on Basketball which was the only shit I was doing aside from playing videogame lol. I went to my first breaking event call Rumble in the Bronx back in 2000. I saw mad ill cats from Breaks crew, Floorlords and Bboy Ivan was there. Niggas were praising ivan like if he was in the NBA. I got real inspired and got busy in the lab. As time went by guys like Mach 3 got down with Full Circle and was getting trained by Kwikstep and Rocafella and I just kept rollin with Greyfox and the ABP cats. As time went by many of the bboys were quitting and weren’t really dancing at all and got into other shit. The Washington Heights bboy scene went from over 30+ bboys to like 15, It was a big decrease. I met a few new bboys from the 160’s streets and started practicing with them. Late 2000 I entered my first competition where I got SMOKED by bboy Cuba. Til this day im so proud of myself cuz everyone that I was practicing with were mad pussy to enter a 1 vs 1 and I went up there and did it, I was MAD wack but still lol. Time goes by , Me and Greyfox were really cool cats, but greyfox would always get into trouble with other people because he was very competitive. He got to the point where he would argue with people cuz he just wanted to feel superior then others. Even though I saw that I would never think we would get a conflict like that. WRONG! Summer of 2001 comes along and me and him get into a heated battle and argument all because he said he could do windmills better then me, and we argued and the last words he ever told me was “Im better then you, and you will never be niceâ€. Those words enraged me and made me want to get nasty. So I hit up Mach3 and tell him that I want to start going out and practicing with him, he takes me to full circle practice and introduces me to Kwikstep and Rocafella. At that time full circle had the whole SkillMethodz down with em, Kmel as well and a few Breaks Crew cats. So I was in a room full of niggas like flipz, abstrak, chino, 2sweet, flea, teknyc and im mad wack and shit but I was in the same room practicing and getting advice from them. As time goes by Kwikstep asks me if I wanted to join Full Circle, in my head im like HELL YEAH but im playin it off like iight ill think about it lolol I didn’t wanna seem thirsty. I wanted to join cuz yo that’s the 1st crew offer in my young career. So I was a Full Circle Cadet aka not in the crew and in the crew. I rolled with kwik and roc everywhere learned a lot but was NEVER trained by them. Many old school people love to take claim of others skills. I respect kwik and roc for how they dance don’t get it twisted.
Many years have gone by and I continue to dance because im very deep into the dance, its been a part of my life for over 9 years now. I’ve traveled to many parts of the U.S performing. Im passing on my love and experience of bboying down to students. I love to Battle, many people don’t like battling because they think that if you get called out it means that we’re enemies and we’re settling the score. People forget it’s a competitive dance and its all for the love, yeah theres mad shit talking but in the end its all good. I have a lot of inspiration and inspire a lot to many of those around me. Although many people dick ride each other here in nyc and don’t give niggas like me and my dude dmize a chance to shine, we still practice and rep hard. .I want to give love and shout out to Kwikstep, Rocafella, Crazy Legs, Ken Swift, Abstrak, Teknyc, Kmel, Flea, Flipz, 2 sweet, Chino(breaks crew), Jeskilz, Mach3, Kwon, Mega, Renegade, illwill, Incredible Josh, KidKwik, Geronimo, Ignishun, Jiggz, Rocism for being people that inspired me on the come up as I met them and saw them get down. The bboy scene in nyc has changed but to the worse. Back then it was soo much fun, niggas were dancing and getting busy reppin. Now its all corny with young dumb niggas making the dance look wack.PS: I hate korean bboys i think they're all wack with their power moves and lack of style and footwork. Where the Real bboys at? I wanna see niggas like Ghost, Dmize, Serious, Trens, Kmel, Flea, Candy, Oreo, Abstrak, Jeskilz, Crazy Legs, Ken Swift, Renegade.. Those are bboys/girl!
