April 2007 saw Des Carson making a welcome return to the studio.Nine new tracks where recorded and placed along side three of his previously released gems resulting in the brand new album entitled Now & Then.
Each song is given the Carson treatment and made his own.Possessing a voice as potent and rich as a velvet hammer and a unique ability to get inside a song and reveal its beauty and truth, this album really is something special.Listening to this collection of songs it becomes clear very quickly that Carson is much more than just a stellar singer but an interpretive artist few of his contemparies can compete with.
The sadness and desire of "How’s the world treating you" has rarely been communicated with the strength Des commands in his performance,and as playful as his take of "Little Ole Wine Drinker Me" may be, he gets the essence of the song on disc with accuracy and freshness.
Anyone who harbours doubts about Des Carsons status as one of Irelands finest country vocalists will be pleasantly surprised by the craft and maturity of Now & Then.
