About Me

In December 1987, Marco Cusato (vocals & guitars) and Octavio Arizala (lead guitars) created WARPATH from the ashes of RUST, one of the Thrash Metal legends from the 80's in South America.
Quite soon the band got Alex Joignant (bass) and Alex Santé (drums) and started rehearsing on songs for the recording of their debut demo. But prior to that, the band leaded their way to the studio and recorded the song "Censorship Fear", as a single track, and as a way to give the band some exposure in the local Radio Metal Programs before their debut demo.
Just before entering the studio, WARPATH suffered their first line up change as Alex Santé (also with the band S.Q.U.A.D. -some kind of local hardcore heroes-) is replaced by Jorge Bachler, former skinman in the band RUST. Warpath’s debut demo "Alternative Dose" is released and the band started playing often in the capitol and many other cities of Chile, receiving nothing but great responses.
By mid 1988 WARPATH starts working on what is considered by many Metal fans as their best effort to date, the "Mental Acceleration" demo. Close to 4.000 copies sold, and gigs with thousands of raving Metal Heads gives proof of the power and madness delivered on that recording.
Anyway, after a successful year on selling and touring, the band loses their drummer but regain the services of ex-WARPATH Alex Santé, now as a full time member of the band. By the beginning of 1989 WARPATH received an offer to play in Lima (Peru) and by the same time Alex Joignant left the band and Marco Gajardo (ex Vastator) took his place. WARPATH played in Lima with this line-up and even nowadays the band remembers that gig as one of their very best.
WARPATH then started working on material for their new and third demo, "Torture", a title dealing explicitly with the political situation of the country during those days (Pinochet was finally kicked off) and showing a, someway, different approach to their music, adding more complex and "Voivod-esque" harmonies and patterns. The band was starting to get recognition not only in South America but in Europe and North America and when everything was going great for the band; Octavio Arizala announced that he had to leave the band as he was moving to live in the USA.
The "Torture" demo is released anyway, but after some farewell shows with Octavio, Marco Cusato, main songwriter and leader of WARPATH, decided that he won't look for a replacement for Octavio and that he will split the band.
Almost 20 years later, Octavio Arizala has been working on heavy basis with well-known RIOT guitar player Mark Reale on his recording studio, and later on as a successful photographer, and Marco Cusato had never stopped being related to music by playing, engineering and/or producing bands on his own recording studio ATTIC.
Now by the end of 2007, Marco is working on songs for the debut album for WARPATH and Octavio has joined him on this new project. No new musicians have been named for the positions of bass player and drummer for the band as long as the writing process is finished.
And to make the waiting more pleasant, Marco has been working on the remastering of the Warpath’s demos for a CD release early 2008. So stay tuned!!!
