VEEGER

Veeger was first assembled in June of 2007 with guitarist Nick Leow, drummer Gabe Stone, bassist Keith K, and thereminist/keyboardist Manny Grimaldi. Since then, Keith has taken up synthesizer and Nick has gone on hiatus to concentrate on mandolin in The Vessel, a hot roots music band. Veeger has begun working on a joint project with guitarist Tim Ragan - interpreting the work of John Coltrane with their heavy electronic sound. On June 15th 2008, Veeger invited low-fi synthesist Matt Clayton to join the band. Now, Veeger will have anywhere between 5 to 7 keyboards on stage, a theremin centrepiece, various sequencers and effects processors, a guitarist, a bassist doubling as keyboard player, a stripped down acoustic drumkit with electronic elements added and sampling plus dj style scratching turntables. Veeger is essentially a concept that Manny, Keith and Gabe have taken into jazz, rock, electronica and progressive rock. The guitarist seat is rotating and with the addition of Matt Clayton, also of Dead Nettle, the sound has multiplied to the nth degree of sheer sonic madness. A special feature of their work is that everyone rotates from instrument to instrument, thus morphing the sound again and again.
