About Me

About Ken

I'm a study in contradictions. There is really no way to describe myself and my interests that would be accurate all the time. So I suppose I'll start with the things that don't change.

I'm not sure if I believe in people, but I believe in being a good person whether or not it ends up benefiting me in the end. I believe that love is the greatest emotion one can ever experience and it should be sought out at all costs. I'm kind to people, but I'm also very quick to punish them if they try to take advantage of me. The biggest turn-off for me would be a date who is rude to our waiter.

I have an insatiable thirst for knowledge that is constantly fueling my desire to travel, study new professions, and pursue new interests. I think I'm one of the few people I have ever met who could actually live for 300 years and never be bored! To list my "favorite" things to do is somewhat irrelevant because by the time you read this it will have probably changed. I typically study something until I have a thorough understanding of it and then I move on. This can take anywhere from weeks to a lifetime!

When it comes to life I believe in picturing your desired quality of life and then going out and getting it. Care to guess my zodiac sign? =) I also believe in understanding the difference between accumulated wealth and quality of life. 9 times out of 10 the key to greater happiness isn't more money.

I believe that balance is the key to the world and all things in it. Whenever I feel unhappy it's usually because I have let my life come out of balance. I love relaxing, working, partying and studying, but striking a balance between them all has been the most important thing for me.

My Interests

A better question would be what am I NOT interested in! To name a few: traveling/exploring, water & land sports, physics, philosophy, electronics, long conversations, fine dining, good music and great company!

Some more general/philosophical interests: loyalty, character, immortality, perceived reality, elite ability, love and a human being's triumph against all odds.

I'd like to meet:

Someone who has spent some significant time observing the world we live in and who has some profound thoughts on the subject. Or someone who enjoys getting riproaring drunk and having some fun!!!

Music:

My first love was playing the piano when I was very young. Then the trumpet as I got a little older.

I've always loved hip-hop/rap music and started listening to a lot of trance when I was in my early twenties. Now I like both equally although I'm VERY picky about the trance I listen to.

Some of my favorite artists are Outkast, Linkin Park, Bob Marley, DJ Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Staind, Tupac, Goodie Mob, Biggie, Ludacris, Lenny Kravitz, NIN, Sarah McLachlan, U2, Tori Amos, Jimmy Eat World, Louis Armstrong & my buddy DJ Spencer!

Movies:

Shawshank Redemption, Batman Begins, The Count of Monte Cristo, Braveheart, The Notebook, Romeo & Juliet, The Saint, Hackers, Swordfish, Doc Hollywood, Secondhand Lions, Rounders, Syriana, The Matrix, Bicentennial Man, Armageddon, Stand by Me, Queen of the Damned, Forrest Gump, Gladiator, Meet Joe Black, The Rocky series, Cinderella Man, Evolution, Just Friends, A Lot Like Love, Failure to Launch.

These are not necessarily my favorite movies, but those which I, for whatever reason, seem to never get tired of watching. I suppose as a group they should tell you alot about my personality although I'm not entirely sure exactly what that would be!

Television:

Not too much of this in my diet. Sports I suppose. Especially college basketball. Go Jayhawks!!!

Books:

I really end up spending most of my time reading scientific or economic books/studies. I would love to read more fiction, but I just don't have the time right now. Reading the world's great works of fiction will probably be one of my primary interests in retirement. Reading the Count of Monte Cristo in old english was both challenging and extremely entertaining.

Heroes:

My mother. Noone else I know has been able to accomplish so much with so little.
