I currently DJ, produce commercials, go to school at FSU, and play around with photography.
I started DJing around 1995 in Panama City,FL . I then moved to Pensacola where I met Jonathan Wells and Alberto Martinez. These two individuals had a huge impact in my early DJnig days. Albert had the hook up on on buying records and allowed me access to the faxes as they came in from the distributors and Jonathan gave me a place to play them.
I remember the first time I met Albert. It was my first weekend in Pensacola and I wanted to go some place where they had DJ's. My roommate told me about some sketchy place called "Bedlams". I grabbed my total collection of 20 records and went up to see this place. Nothing could be more sketchy than "Bayou Mama's"( lol ). I walk inside and the place is dark and empty but a few club kids where on the floor. I went straight to the DJ booth and there was Albert. I remember being blown away watching him mix and then he gave me this big smile. I told him I was new in town and a DJ. He asked me if I can spin and I said "yeah!", we both knew I was lying. He let me go on and I was lost and terrified and train-wrecking. After a few tracks he pulled me down. "You can't really spin can you?". I said no but I really wanted to learn. He gave this big smile and said "Don't worry, I'll take care of you!". He told me about getting records and how I should meet Jonathan too. A few weeks later after I had met a few people Jonathan and I were talking about how I was learning to DJ. He said to me in true Wells fashion, "You want to fuckin' spin? Come up to Bedlams on Thursdays. I'll let you play". So I was there every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It was so funny playing there as John kept all his records in the booth, a gold mine. I would be playing my records and sneak in some of his tracks. Every time he heard one he would come running into the booth telling me to not to touch his records. Yeah right!
After that I moved to Gainesville where I played all over at many house parties. I had nights at Saoca Global Lounge, Lush, the Full Circle, and the Down Below. I was lucky enough to play at Soulhouse (my G-ville family), but I played more at the little green house behind the Soulhouse more :) I liked playing there the most as it was very private and just our friends.
