Flutist Priscilla Wadsworth

I am Priscilla Wadsworth, and I am an 19 year old flutist from Alabama. I have now been playing for 6 years. I started taking private lessons the last month of my eighth grade year with Dr. Gerald Welker. I have also studied with Lisa Wienhold, Doriot Dwyer, Nancy Stagnitta, Elizabeth Brightbill, Diane Boyd Schultz, and also had a lesson with Joanna Goldstein, Kristen Kean, and Yamaha Performing Artist Mary Karen Clardy. I was featured on the nationally broadcast radio show for young classical musicians, From The Top, 2 times; once as a soloist, and as a member of the Afinado Wind Quintet. On From The Top, I performed the first movement of Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto Pastoral and Paul Hindemith's Kleine Kammermusik. The summer of my junior year in high school, I attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute as a member of the flute workshop , where I studied with Doriot Dwyer. At Tanglewood I also was a member of the Young Artist Wind Ensemble. I have been a performer in a masterclass with Mary Karen Clardy while she accompanied me on piano. I was accepted to the Interlochen Center for the Arts for my senior year of high school with $27,500 in scholarship money. I was a finalist in the 2007 Blount Slawon Young Artist Concerto Competition. I have been principal in many honor bands, one that I should mention would be All-State. I was Principal flutist of the Alabama All-State Band for 2 years in a row. I also won the Alabama All-State Solo Festival 2 years in a row. I was also principal flute of the Tuscaloosa Youth Orchestra until it no longer existed. I was principal flute of the Crimson Music Camp Symphonic Band for 4 years in a row. I also won the Crimson Camp full scholarship for the second year in a row. I was also principal flute in the 2008 Alabama Honor Band. I won a full tuition scholarship to the University of Alabama on flute performance. Recently, composer John Craton wrote a flute solo dedicated to me titled Trois Soeurs Assyriennes ( Three Assyrian Sisters).
