My Interests

Reading, vigorous exercise, repetitive stress injuries, bodily secretions, listening to music, performing music, petting small cats, observing insects from a safe distance, cherishing the common moor hen, poking the irritable Mel.

I'd like to meet:

Creative, well-balanced, intelligent and unpretentious people with a good sense of humor.

Music:

I like powerful rhythm sections, rough and expressive voices, catchy melodies, and an attention to sonic detail. I love dense textures, moving chord progressions, and stark contrasts. Lyrics are usually lost on me.

Movies:

Movies are a fun escape, but they don't hold the depth that a good book or recording does. I don't own a movie player, and tend to see them in theatres.

Television:

No television channel access. No plans on obtaining it.

Books:

Science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, music magazines, science periodicals, computer industry, programmer culture. Authors: William Gibson, Isabelle Allende, Haruki Murakami, Larry Niven, Dave Eggers, Joel Spolsky, Jhumpa Lahiri.

Heroes:

The individuals with the most direct and positive impact on my life have been my family, my high school art and english teachers, and my closest friends.
