Zeky Ahmed (known by his stage name Young Spliff) was born in Mississauga, Ontario. Starting at an early age, him and his family were constantly moving from place to place, as his father was always in search for job opportunities. They have lived in many different cities all the way from Toronto and Mississauga, to Windsor, Ontario, when his father eventually found a job in Michigan where they would finally settle down. He spent the early years of his life growing up in Michigan until about the age of 13, when they moved back into Windsor, Ontario because his father lost his job. That is when he started to pursue his musical talent. Although he did realize he had talent, it was not until he reached grade 10 at Assumption College High School, that he realized how raw his talent was and decided to get serious about this music business. He soon started to work with an already established Windsor rapper, Black Knight, who was also a student at Assumption, with whom he saved money in order to buy their own studio equipment. Finally, in the summer of 2007, they were able to gather up enough money to buy the equipment and set it up in Black Knight’s house, where Spliff began recording his first tracks. Black Knight soon formed a new record label called “Validated Ent†in which Young Spliff was one of the first artists to be signed. He has now managed to gain a solid fan base and is known for his hard punches and overall talent. He is also starting to work with other well known Windsor area rappers, and even some from Toronto and elsewhere, in order to help give Canada a new name in the hip hop industry.
