Todd began playing bass at age 9. After gaduating high school, he attended UW-Madison to continue his mentorship with Richard Davis. While in Madison, Hill had the oppurtunity to perform with many outstanding groups and musicians within and without the college programs including: UW Symphony Orchestra, UW Big Band, Black Music Ensemble, Erica Mather Trio, Scattershot, Jade Elephant, Tomato Box, Nic Cowles Quartet, Hanah Jon Taylor Artet, John Santos, Roberto Vizcaino, Les Thimmig, and many others. In the fall of 2003, Todd moved to Chicago. Since living in Chicago Todd has immersed himself in many of Chicago's vibrant scenes. Some groups of note include: The Siderunners, Bruce Mak and Beau Barry's Universal Super-Circus, Bill Mackay's Sounds of Now, 1KVF, Vincient Davis Trio, Cougar, Savoir Faire and E.S.P., El Gato Negro Jazz Band, Asylum, and Kent Rose.
