I hope life isn't a big joke, cuz I don't get it.

About Me

When I was young, it was my dream to grow up and be a TIME TRAVELER. So here I am today…a Time Traveler. I like my job. It’s an exhilarating ride getting to see and experience the future, but I haven’t yet honed my skills enough to travel backwards. And I can only travel forward at the rate of sixty seconds per minute. It’s still pretty cool though. Anyway, as I was leaving for a job one day, my time travel mentor said, “Derek, remember that nothing in this world is free.” “That’s alright,” I thought, “I have a job”. Then she said, “Derek, remember that you can’t buy happiness or love.” I thought, “Well shit, if I can’t buy it and nothing is free, how do I get it?” So I tried trading some Pokemon cards for some love one time but it didn’t work out so well. I think the love she gave me was fake and it stopped working after a short while. When I told my mentor about it she said, “Derek, remember that time heals all wounds.” “That’s alright,” I thought, “I’m a time traveler, I’ll just do my time.” Then she said, “Derek, remember that time IS money.” “Well damn it!” I thought, “I don’t have any money! I spent it all on those stupid Pokemon cards!” So I said, “I've got no love and no money and therefore no time. I’m stuck! What happens to me now?” She said, “Only time will tell.”

My Interests

music, film, photography, traveling, hot lovin', singing really loud in my car or shower, yoga, hiking, jackets, people watching, I think applied kinesiology is pretty neat, and yes, I love golf.

I'd like to meet:

I like meeting people that like to sing. They don't have to be great at it and it's by no means a requirement. I just like it when people sing. It's kinda cool if they can do old school dances like the Running Man, Cabbage Patch, Roger Rabbit, or the Wop. But once again, not a requirement.

Music:

Jazz, Blues, Hip-Hop, Rock, Techno, Pop, Mambo, Flamenco... Tuck & Patti, Otis Redding, Al Green, Cal Tjader, Sonny Terry, Jamiroquai, Tribe Called Quest, Corey Harris, Stevie Wonder, Charlie Hunter, Greyboy, Cannonball Adderly, Stone Temple Pilots, Fiona Apple, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Bjork, Rodrigo, Sabicas, Chet Baker, Nirvana, Guns n Roses, White Stripes, Robert Johnson...

Television:

Yes, I like TV alot! Drama, reality, sitcoms, nerdy stuff, how-to shows, game shows, the Golf Channel...yes, I like em. I like Heroes, Lost, I liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Alias, Kids in the Hall, Three's Company, Family Ties, The Contender, Rescue Me, and my recent favorite...Beauty and the Geek.

Books:

Venus on the Half-Shell, any Charles Bukowski, Oh the Places You'll Go!, Where the Wild Things Are. Honestly, I hardly ever read. My brain is too soft for that.

My Blog

"You are the apple of my eye"

Can someone please explain to me the roots of the expression, "You are the apple of my eye"? Seriously...what the hell does that mean?
