Message Alex On This Page For Ordering Info.Alex first heard Bluegrass at age 5 when he stumbled across Bill Monroe's version of White House Blues. Since then, he has been given many opportunities in the music business. The first one came at age 9, when Alex met the manager of WDVX Radio in Knoxville TN (Tony Lawson) and was asked to become a Bluegrass DJ two times a week on the air, which broadcasts world wide.At age 11, Alex began singing and playing the mandolin and guitar by ear, and was heavily influenced by the style of Ralph Stanley and Bill Monroe. In 2003, he began performing with another one of his heroes, Russell Wilson (of The Wilson Brothers), and in 2004 became a member of East Tennessee group: The Mystery Mountain Boys. Also at this time, he was awarded SPBGMA's International Bluegrass DJ of the year in 2003 and 2005.Most recently, Alex joined as a full-time member of Larry Gillis & His Hard Driving Bluegrass Band (Larry being one half of the legendary Gillis Brothers). Larry has been a major influence on Alex's style since he was 8 years old, and Alex remembers often listening to and studying Gillis Brothers music as a very young boy. Alex plans on working with Larry to put the Gillis style back to the top of today's Bluegrass scene.Alex can also be seen making appearances with his good buddy Kody Norris & The Watauga Mountain Boys, a young traditional band from Mountain City TN. Alex can be seen frequently on RFD TV's national Program called The Cumberland Highlanders' Show, which is filmed at the homeplace of The Father of Bluegrass: Bill Monroe.AND....The new CD is now available, "A Lonesome Night," and features 14 songs of some of Alex's original songs as well as plenty of Hard Driving Bluegrass (along with many special guests). To receive any booking info, or if you have any questions for Alex, feel free to message. Thanks for stopping by!
