About Me

Arnold Jacks Bassist (aka A.J.) A.J. originally played tenor and alto saxophone through elementary and high school. He studied with Don Ellis' lead alto saxophonist, Trent Kynnaston, his junior and senior high school years. He played with local rock and funk bands in Tucson AZ. A.J. always had a kinship to the bass. After being introduced to the sound of straight-ahead jazz artists like Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, Keith Jarrett, McCoy Tyner and others, he took up the double bass as a second instrument upon entering the University of Arizona. He has since worked with an eclectic list of artists including pianists Lamont Johnson and Dr. Reed Gratz, Saxophonist Rudolph Johnson, drummer Billy Higgins and vocalists Robert Goulet, Barbara Morrison, Lorez Alexandria and many others. He has studied with world renown bassists including Eddie Khan, Henry Franklin and Bruce Stone. AJ is currently working freelance with his jazz fusion group "Full Moon". Blues artist MS. Jackie Mayfield and Rock legend Peter Tork, formerly of the "Monkees". In the future A.J. hopes to further his abilities as a sensitive and capable electric and acoustic bassist in as many artistic settings as possible. Layout by:
