24 year old underground alt hip hop prodigy Chris Votta has been flowing as long as he can remember. He first put pen to paper at age 12 and has never looked back. Before graduating to the stage Chris could be found freestyling anywhere: pep rallies, high school sporting events, weddings, the back booth at an empty coffee shop; anywhere anyone would listen. And listen they did. His first underground album, “Long Time Comin†sold faster than he could burn it. He is currently working on a follow up that will be available soon so stay tuned, you'll hear it first right here on MySpace. Chris is currently seeking a label but is perfectly at home in the underground. He does this out of love. He's done it for free and will keep doing it, money or none. Of underground rap, Chris says: “I feel the underground has so much more to offer than mainstream hip hop. Underground artists are out there battling and honing their skills every day just to get noticed while the mainstream guys put out one album a year, if that. Underground artists are hungry. That's why almost every big artist's best album was their first. They had to fight to get that one made. They starved for it. They need to remember Hip Hop's roots and get back to lyrical skill and away from the flash.†When asked who he sounds like he won't answer. While he looks to artists for inspiration, he steers clear of emulation. He feels inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere: TV, movies, comic books, video games, a walk in the park, a burger with friends, Riverdance, religion, and anywhere else you can imagine. Chris is a filter for pop culture and you never know what will come out in the end. Some of the artists Chris has respect for are: Busta Rhymes, Nas, Biggie, Talib Kweli, Aesop Rock, Mos Def, Kanye West, Wu-Tang Clan, Eminem, Tech Nine, E40, 2Pac, DJ Quik, Papoose and just about anyone else with skill. When asked who he cites as his biggest supporters he is quick to point out in no particular order: fans, friends and family. Chris especially wishes to thank Stewie G, the producer on countless tracks who does a lot on a shoestring budget. He also wishes to thank collaborator DJ Hjymie Jameriz.
