Who cares where you've been? Everybody's been somewhere and most folks have been nowhere. Who wants to stay stuck in nowhere? Ya can't go back to visit yesterday, so it really don't matter too much... what matters is where yer goin' and how yer plannin' to do what you gotta do to get from here to there. Somebody once told me that the difference between dreams and reality is prayer and effort. I reckon that's about right.
I ain't got a whole of experience at being no professional musician, but that's not stopping me from trying. I can't sit here and talk about theory or compare gear and discuss the technology of it all, because that ain't what I do. I'm a singer... a songwriter... a performer.
Anybody can sound good in a studio. Look at what they did to Paris Hilton. Almost sounds like she's got some talent, but you know better and I do too...
Talking to the rhythm of a drum machine and some sampled riffs you didn't even play is NOT music. Drummers are human beings, not machines. If no one is playing an instrument... it ain't music.
So what does that mean? Nothin. It just means that I'm not about to be shoved into no corner and put into no box and packaged and sold as "Folk Music" or "Rock 'n' Roll" or "Blues" or "Alternative" or whatever... It's the 21st century, fox!
I'm a relic I reckon. I expect music to move me. I expect the words to MEAN SOMETHING...
