Marinella & Kostas Hatzis

A tribute to one of the best- ever -greek duet/collaboration in music MARINELLA is the legendary Greek singer whose career has spanned more than 5 decades. Her early career was marked by her collaboration for 10 years with the great singer Stelios Kazantzidis.She released her first song in 1957. Marinella performed in several Greek musicals and movies , both as singer and actress. Her popularity rose in the late 60's 70's and 80's, with a string of successful albums and live shows. She developed a new standard for shows in the Greek night clubs, introducing costumes, dancing, and special lighting effects. Many of today's popular Greek singers have modelled their shows on Marinella's shows. The last two decades gives great concerts and performances at concert Halls, music halls and ancient theaters. Her concert at the small Olympic stadium of Athens in 1999 was a great success with more than 25.000 people. Even though Marinella is often considered a singer of folk songs, her range is quite broad and has included a variety of musical styles including traditional, laika, rembetika, pop, musical, blues and jazz. Marinella is characterised as "The Great Lady of Song" in Greece, where she is regarded with great respect. She is the greek Diva. Now she is 70 years old and her voice still be so powerful and briliant. Last year performed in the biggest dance-music hall in Athens. She is the most "evergreen" greek singer. KOSTAS HATZIS is a great singer, songwriter and musician. His career has spanned about 5 decades too. His great gipsy temperament and his worries about social problems made him to be very popular to the young and rebel people in the mid 70's. He wrote many songs and collaborated with great greek lyricists. Also he collaborated with great composers and singers as Mikis Theodorakis, Mimis Plessas, Marinella, Haris Alexiou etc. He is a great guitarist. The last two decades gives few concerts. His collaboration with Marinella is one of the best in the greek music and their first live album "Recital" in 1976 is a best seller-more than 500.000 sales in the same year! Together collaborated again in 1980-live performances and a double record from their concerts called "To Tam Tam". In 1987 together sing 12 new songs in a studio album.
