Sounds Like: Well not like the originals! you tell us ehThanks to Dave Kingsbury for this review of the bands demo CD four of the six tracks are on here.Fishheads - Six of the BestI like a CD that captures a band's live sound and this uptempo collection - four well chosen covers, mostly blues, and a couple of punk-influenced originals - is a dynamic showcase for the Fishheads.Thier playing is good throughout - simple but effective arrangements allowing plenty of musical interaction and several tasty guitar solos well-supported by a driving rhythm section. Band members take turns on lead vocals, and while there are no outsatnding voices, the songs are delivered with plenty of personality and expression.A good example is the opening number Walking the Dog where a laconic, almost throwaway vocal gives this version a distinctive twist. Next up is an atmospheric take on the Velvet Underground's Waiting for the Man. Two original numbers follow - Visa Man is a kind of Johnny Rotten meets Chuck Berry rocker and Pills charts a (posiibly true) romantic encounter courtesy of our wonderful NHS (or do you have to go private for such things?) - both making cheeful use of backing vocals. Key to the Highway is a fairly straight blues with a nicely-understated half spoken vocal and the CD ends on a high with the whole band working hard on a busy, well arranged, heavier-than-the-Stones interpretation of The Last Time. This is an enjoyable CD and sounds like it was fun to do - I suspect there is a link there somewhere!Dave Kingsbury
