Andy Zondag was born in 1981 in Nordrhein-Westfalen/Germany. 2001 he went to Bochum to participate in the theater project "Theater Total". After that he studied dance at Folkwang Hochschule, Essen. During this time he worked with: Kuo-Chu Wu (Oculus, Tantalus), Chikako Kaido (Die Religion, Showcase of the Body), Susanne Linke (Fragmente Skizzen) and Samir Akika (Globalost Sunday). He also created his first own piece "Wir". In 2005 he participated in the „danceWEB Europe Scholarship Programme for Contemporary Dance“ in Vienna. After finishing school, he joined „Folkwang Tanzstudio“ and participated in pieces created by Rodolpho Leoni (If and only if) and Henrietta Horn and Jens Thomas (Freigang). He left the company after being invited by Rasmus Ölme to work with him in Sweden. It was an important move to leave Essen. He was part ot the creation "On Three" which toured across Sweden. Since 2006 he is dancing as a guest in „The Rite of Spring“ for Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. In September '08 he got the opportunity to dance the solo "Isaac" created by Germán Jáuregui and Borjan Ramos in Spain. He works as a freelancer, based in Berlin. Recently he was part of the creation "Crayfish" by Samir Akika and Anna K. Becker as an artistic assistant and danced in "SHOCK" the new piece by David Zambrano in Brussels and Amsterdam. (to see some videos click the links below)
