Born in rural Perthshire, Doris has always had a great passion for traditional songs and is a popular guest at festivals and folk clubs. She has won countless competitions for traditional singing and many a silver trophy has graced her shelves.
MARGARET BENNET
Teaming up with folklorist Margaret Bennett to publish a book of memories, poems and songs collected in Perthshire, this complements her association with “THE KEEKIN' GLESS†with writer Carl MacDougall, guitarist and singer Ewen Sutherland, fiddler Pete Clark and piper Neil Paterson performing songs, stories, tunes and poems from Perthshire thematically linked to form a seamless and highly colourful garment.
CELTIC CONNECTIONS
Doris has also been a familiar face at Celtic Connections in recent years, hosting concerts and the ever popular House of Song as part of the Festival Club.
GLENFARG VILLAGE FOLK CLUB
Doris is probably best known for being a long standing member of The Glenfarg Folk Club committee. The Folk Club has been running for over 20 years and The Folk Feast weekend in April every year is a great time for friends old and new to get together for sessions and concerts.
WILDFIRE
Doris Rougvie and Brenda Frier have sung together as Wildfire for over 20 years and still perform together occasionally during their busy schedules. Their 1996 CD Another Shore is still available and still very popular.
