The musical journey he has embarked on thus far has been a lesson in the faithfulness of Gods purpose.The world had a call of its own for Damon OBrien. He began singing solos in his home church, the First Baptist Church of Texas City, Texasat the age of 6. By the age of 13, Damon O' developed a love forsinging and could not resist the lure of fame, fortune, and female fansthat the R&B music scene offered. I loved gospel music, but what Iwas singing about was not real to me. Damon O began singing with different R&B groups and had even opened for groups such as Roger Troutman and Zapp. He has won numerous area talent shows and awards, including the Sammy Award, in honor of the late Sammy Davis, Jr.By college, the inner struggle between singing gospelor R&B intensified, as did his popularity in the world of R&B. After reaching a place where young artists would give their all toreach, Damon O' gave up the struggle and totally committed his gift tothe Lord. My calling is not to be a singer.
