Steubenville, Ohio - September 3, 1987 - Channing Ross, aka Killa K, a musical phenomenon was born. Son/Product of Michael & Denise Ross. Shortly afterwards my parents went their separate ways and I relocated to St. Louis, MO. Those who've known me throughout my life will tell you that they are not surprised at the music and business that I have developed. Growing up in "Countryside Apartments" on the north side of St. Louis my mother began to notice something that she says had been obvious since taking me to church as a baby...MY LOVE FOR MUSIC. A love, that this ENTIRE generation from my family seems to share. Learning how to play just about any instrument I could get my hands on my mother did the only thing that she could do, send me to church! In the church, I learned song formatting as well as how instruments mesh together with the right amount of talent using them. Playing the piano mostly, K then took his musical genius to another level when he was introduced to Fruity Loops Studio by a cousin Paul Jr..At this point, I was attending "Kirby Junior High" and was not considering pursuing music as a career, just a hobby. Gaining a reputation throughout school as well as in the hood, myself, my brother Devon, and my cousin Andre, began to see that something bigger was brewing.
It wasn't too long before K surpassed his cousin who showed him fruity loops, but he'd surpassed the majority of the producers that are currently producing hit records. Staying determined, K molded and shaped his craft into his own unique sound that will be heard throughout the next decade in the Hip-Hop/Rap/R&B/Soul genre.Things took a bad turn for the blood-lined quartet when my mother decided that the streets were making me too wild and I was sent to live with my father in Atlanta, GA. As a resident of "Somerset Apts" & "The Gables" I began to meet new friends who would somehow put me back on the path of music. It was 8th Grade - Henderson Middle School - where I became acquainted with Kenny & Gary who would always want to rhyme no matter the place or time. This is when I began to pursue rapping/songwriting, as my freestyle skills began to appear out of what seemed like nowhere. But, I never stopped progressing my sound as a producer. Next year, we started at "Tucker High School" as freshman, in what was the biggest class EVER c/o 05! We gained a reputation from freestyling at school and at football games with the upperclassmen. By this time, my brother, Devon had found his way down to Atlanta, GA and I began to see what would eventually turn into my secret weapon. lolDue to family issues, my father chose to move to Columbus, Ohio. The birthplace of "T.U.P.". Attending "Beechcroft High School/Westerville North High School, I quickly noticed a MASSIVE shift in the demographic of people. This was the most diverse city I lived in (you can probably credit Ohio State for that). It didn't take much time before K decided to start his own production company at the age of 15 along with 2 more young entrepreneurs by the names of Steve & Jabari, thus, Times Up Productions was formed. Unfortunately, when your only 15, the majority of your time is occupied by school, which doesn't leave too much time for marketing of the label, although it did allow me plenty of time to study the business side of the entertainment market. The funny thing about starting this company is, I didn't have to look outside of my family bloodline for talent or support. Everyone on this roster is a relative. I love my niggas.Ever since K has graduated high school, he has been determined to get his sound heard. With a countless number of industry standard instrumentals, as well as a countless number of mixtape appearances shouting out his label. "T.U.P.!"In the midst of all the years, K has managed, developed, and recruit strong vocal artist as well as producers for the label including: Yung Rip, Suspect, Da Ripper, Rambo, Sneek, Dreno. This is a movement. This is a FAMILY (literally) NOT A LABEL. And definatly not a place for fake niggas. Ask our former artist.[LOVEMYFLASH]
