You buy CD's, download music..put them on your iPod, check out local bands at the clubs, go to the big concerts. Every band you like sounds good. Then you heard, and saw the band MIDIAN!!!! Back in the day if you had seen and heard them.....you saw and heard a GREAT band!!!!!
MIDIAN was formed in 1989 out of the ashes of the band MERCENARI. With MERCENARI having changing members and their music to a more aggressive sound....it was the right time to change their name to MIDIAN. Not to mention, there were three other bands with the same name.
The band recorded their first demo "The Last War" in the summer of 1990. The track listing was: The Last War, One Of Dissidence, Malfurious Wrath, and Suicide Pact. It was well received by fans and the press alike, and also...it got the ball rolling for profitable success in the merchandising field with artwork by "CRY FOR DAWN's" Joe Michael Linsner. But...the band could not use the artwork, cause MIDIAN couldn't afford to get the demo duplicated with the artwork. So they had to settle duplicating just the cassettes with no artwork. Sucks..yeah I know.
MIDIAN chugged on playing many gigs including opening up for Pantera, Ripping Corpse, Hades, Tony MaCalpine, Wrathchild America, Gothic Slam and more.
Then in the winter of 1991, MIDIAN recorded their second and last demo "First Impressions". This time the band was going for a more aggressive thrash sound, which they pulled off. The track listing was: Anthem, Candy From A Stranger, a new version of Suicide Pact, One Foot In The Grave, and Slaughter House. Once again, the fans flipped once they heard it, and the zines embraced it. Positive reviews were coming in.
The only thing........no labels were interested in the band. This was due to the change in the music industry. Namely..GRUNGE!! Every label was looking for another NIRVANA, and MIDIAN was left out in the cold!! This caused a few members to form side projects, or leave the band. And finally in early 1992 the band broke up for good. We had a good run though. Had some crazy times. To me personally..........MIDIAN was my favorite band I was ever in( to this date), and I want to thank all the guys that were a part of it!!!!! This site is dedicated to you!!!!!!! Thanks.
