In the beginning, there were two gods; one was named Ray May and the other was named Bridge. For many millenia, the gods lived at peace, each creating beautiful music of His own creation and bringing joy unto their people. Until one day two years ago, Ray May and Bridge became entangled in a ferocious battle over who was the better artist. But when the battle was done, there emerged no winner, only a hybrid being created by the fusing of the two great gods. This new supreme musical goliath called itself Ray Bridgemay. And Ray Bridgemay saw that He had great musical abilities far beyond His imagination and it was good. So, He began to write new arrangements to please the peoples of Earth, but there was something missing.
So He set out upon the Earth and sought out the most talented of all human beings. On the first and second day, He found two guitar shredding stoners, one named Stephen Parr and the other named Derek Mobbs and He poured His powers into them and they had attained His majestic talents and it was good. Then on the third day there was Rodney Kirkland, the bass player who was about to sell his soul to the Devil at the crossroads to learn the Blues, until Ray Bridgemay descended upon him and said, "Be gone, beast of Hell!" And He poured His powers into Rodney and he had attained His majestic talents and it was good. The drummer Steve Sehika He found on the fourth day at a Death Metal concert, playing an ancient drumset made of the bones of all the drummerboys of every war ever fought. The saxophonist Elton Tevebaugh He met on the sixth day through an acid trip in what appeared to be the village of the Smurfs and showed him the ways of Jazzy Jazz. And then, with the band assembeled, He dubbed them Ray Bridgemay of the humans and sent them into the world to spread His good will. On the seventh day, he rested.
Since then, Derek, Stephen, Rodney, Steve, and Elton have been bringing the music of the gods to the people of Arkansas. Led by their spiritual guide, Michael Summers, Ray Bridgemay is on a quest to bring enlightenment, peace, and understanding to the world through the joys of blues, folk, reggae, rock, and all the great genres. They have recorded their debut album, Ray Bridgemay Takes a Cigarette Break, with Todd Davis, and are hard at work on writing for their second album, Ray Bridgemay Has a Kickass Dream About a Cheeseburger.
