....So, they say a bird in the hand is worth two in bush….. Not entirely sure what the f*&k that means or what relevance it has to music but it seems the use of irrelevant superlative quotes as a prologue to a self-righteous big noting musical biography is all the rage, so what the hell, in the spirit of ridiculous DJ Bio’s - here we go.
Starting young, Santiago was taught the art of the Triangle at a tender age of 6. *ding* from triangle, to recorder, no instrument was too hard for wee little Santiago & stemming from a family of talented musicians (Grandma Santiago was a riot on the maracás) Santiago often found himself having a jam with the old-timers.....
OK on a more serious note, Robbie was taught how to master the Flamenco & Acoustic guitar at a rosey age of 12. A few years passed & Robbie stumbled across a crate of old 12†records, using the ol' family turntable - a world of music opened up and Santiago the extremely annoying neighbour was born. After collecting and listening to classic disco / hip hop & techno tracks (what a mix), Robbie’s love of house music (in its early form) started.
Attempt after attempt was made but It was a sad sad day when an 18 year old Santiago realised he could not adopt the same dancefloor prowess & ability as John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. After founding the “tall people can't dance†society of NSW, Robbie caught a glimpse of what a DJ can do to a crowd and decided he needed to give it a shot, he put the guitar down and bought his first set of turntables. Many a night was spent behind said turntables & Robbie the bedroom DJ came alive, he then began collecting all sorts of music and it wasn’t long before Robbie (DJ sTYLz at the time) was sending Under 18 crowds crazy (lol).
…..It was short lived though, Robbie decided shortly after to put the headphones down & pursue a career in a field separate to music, the DJ was gone, however the music affectionado / collector – stronger than ever.
Fast forward to right now. With a style unlike most – combining elements of
Latin, Funk, House, Soul, Disco, Afro - Santiago the DJ has returned better than ever. Not bad for a guy who can’t really mix. Getting booked to play all across Sydney has ensured Santiago’s head is growing at a rate much much faster than his ability.
With professional DJ photos, cringe worthy poses & a slick looking MySpace design, Robbie is scaling the heights of DJ Wank’ism. Robbie has studied the DJ scene quite carefully & as a result he is a master in the art of DJ etiquette – this includes zoolander posing techniques, suitable headphone placement, a fake rockstar ego & effective "hands-in-the-air" & “fist – clenching†skills. Much attention is also given to ensuring that plenty of scantily clad women provide unnecessary MySpace comments so as to remain popular. This seems like a perfect opportunity to harp on the fact that Santiago has played at gigs across state lines - in Victoria & QLD, a must for any self respecting DJ that wants to hook up with hot women.
Santiago has played alongside many great DJ’s, DJ’s with flight tags on record bags, DJ’s with lanyards from international festivals, DJ’s with much more experience than Santiago, DJ’s a whole lot more popular than Santiago, DJ’s a whole lot more successful than Santiago, DJ’s with plenty more groupies than Santiago & DJ’s with a much better reputation than he – all that remains is a young Eastern Suburbs lad that loves the ability to play his music & rock a crowd.
You can catch Santiago doing his thing every weekend, at various popular Sydney venues located within the Sydney CBD, Kings Cross & the Eastern Suburbs.

That’s it for the 3rd person wankfest.
