About Me

I have been singing since I was 15, when I sang back-up vocals in a friends band in South Wales. I went on to front my own band singing covers and playing rhythm Guitar, touring the circuit from Wales to the North East. I later went solo and toured throughout Scandinavia playing up to 5 hours a night, six nights a week mainly singing covers but over time showcasing my own material.I got my first writing assignment when I was asked to write a track for a pilot TV show called 'Situations Vacant' which aired in the South West of England. I followed that with a musical 'Half Moon Street' and two children's shows, one of which played in Paignton, Devon for a summer season. In 1997 I won the Studiomaster songwriter of the year competition for my demo 'Hello World' which received press and radio coverage. I also received £1000 in prize money. The song was recorded in Torquay and engineered by Phil Curtis, former Bass player with Kikki Dee (Don't go breaking my heart with Elton John). I was featured on Gemini FM, with an interview and airplay of three of my songs. I moved to London and started an intense period of writing. Fifteen new songs were demoed and in 2001 I started recording my first album in Cornwall. The album 'Hello World' features 13 original songs and was co-produced by Dave Lucas & Jess Carter formally of Sawmills studio (Supergrass, Reef). In 2006 I signed a publishing deal with ACM Records in New York and with their help I'm gaining valuable experience and exposure selling my music.'HELLO WORLD' IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AT APPLE iTUNES. Influences: Singers: John Lennon has to be my favourite singer, his voice has a unique quality. It's spine tingling. I also love Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Elvis Costello and a lot of the old school singers especially Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole and Nina Simone.Writers: Lennon & McCartney, as Ian Macdonald says in his book 'Revolution in The Head', the two represented "a classic clash between truth and beauty". I love Lennon's 'Happiness is a warm gun' and 'I'm So Tired' from the 'White Album', also 'Don't Let Me Down' and 'Come Together'.McCartney can never be discounted he's the melody king, 'Eleanor Rigby', 'For No One', 'Penny Lane', 'She's Leaving Home', Hey Jude' and the montage of songs on Abbey Road. Genius. My favourite Beatles song? 'A Day In The Life'.Other influences: Burt Bacharach, Crowded House and Elvis Costello.More favourite songs: We Have all The Time In The World, You've Lost That Loving Feeling, Be My Baby, The Look Of Love, God Only Knows, Son Of A Preacher Man, Life On Mars, All The Young Dudes, SOS, I Don't Like Monday's, Alison, Real Gone Kid, Don't Dream It's Over, Better Be Home Soon, One, Fields of Gold.
