In Memory Of
Cpl. Binh N. Le gave the Ultimate Sacrifice on December 3 2004 when a VBIED had entered the vicinity of his Forward Operating Base. Although Cpl. Le was in a fortified position where he could have taken cover, he grabbed his rifle and advanced to a position where he could engage the enemy. The VBIED was fired upon, crashing into a barrier and exploded, thus killing Cpl. Binh Le and Cpl. Matthew Wyatt.
Cpl. Binh N. Le was awarded for his Heroic Acts with a Bronze Star and the Valor device, identifying the award as resulting from an act of combat heroism. He was recommended for a Silver Star by his Commanding Officer. He was then posthumously granted Citizenship on January 27th, 2005.
"His final act of bravery saved the lives of others," Captain Christopher J. Curtain wrote in a letter read at the ceremony. "I will be forever grateful for his heroism."
