Since 1995 AJ has developed his unique song style and sound. His talent for writing and producing well polished music has brought success in a variety of projects and genres of music. His early writing and music reflect up tempo alternative rock, with jingle melodies and driving rhythmic guitars.
While continuing to develop his musicality, he began exploring progressive rock with its odd rhythmic patters and unpredictable format. Combining his previous musical experiences, AJ began writing commercial rock; his melodic style enhances memorable vocal hooks and also superb instrumental structure.
His first demo EP, written in conjunction with his band 13 Dead Canaries, released in 1999; the EP, titled after the band, drew immediate label interest from TVT records. Conflicting band interests split the band and lead AJ to move forward. He produced a series of progressive songs in the studio prior to releasing the first of two commercial rock LPs with his band Lucid. The first LP, titled after the band, was co-produced by Mark Hunt at Chameleon West Studios. Singles, Better Than Nothing and Clear, received regular rotation on regional radio station 103.3 WEDG. And Hold You Near, a 9-11 tribute, was featured on a WIVB television special.
The Lucid release gained momentum and this momentum allowed AJ to play along side many semi-national and national acts such as: Econoline Crush, Default, Three Days Grace, Thornley, Bret Michaels, Bang Tango, Enuff z’ Nuff, and Wide Mouth Mason. The second release, Games, was co-produced by Ken Ruthowski at Outer Limit Recording Studios. Singles off the Games album, On and On and Drag, received honorable mention in the Billboard song writing competition of 2004. Burning Rain, another single off the album, was regularly spun on regional commercial rock stations 103.3 WEDG and 92.9 WBUF.
Songwriting has always come natural to AJ and he writes constantly and without restraints regarding genre or style; Life is his inspiration.
After taking several years off to start a family, AJ is back with a passion and is looking to get back on the road in a project where his musicianship and songwriting skills can be utilized to their fullest possible extent and potential.
