About Me

I'm intelligent, funny, and so I've been told: cute. I like to laugh and have a good time. I am a solid chess player, so if you're in the area and want to go for a game, maybe we can arrange something.

I'm a social drinker (i.e.I typically don't get smashed) -- this means I don’t sit at home by myself and drink. Some of my favorite places are Rookies (Cromwell, CT), Harbor Park (Middletown, CT), Tuxedo Junction (Danbury, CT), Playwright (New Haven, CT) and The Salty Dog Saloon (Springfield, MA).

I love home electronics. I am proud of my Dolby 5.1 setup! I am probably the only person you'll ever meet who has a laserdisc player. (NO, these are not the same as DVD: laserdiscs have a maximum of 1 hour per side, have been around since 1981, and at 12" in diameter are not super convenient to bring with you on a plane.)

I like to gamble occasionally. There are two major casinos in Connecticut: Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods , the latter of which is actually the single largest casino in the world. However, I very much prefer to go to Mohegan Sun: it's a much more elegant atmosphere. In fact, there is much to do there besides gamble: they have good places to eat, a club, a couple good bars, and a concert venue. At the Mohegan, I've had a romantic candlelight dinner at the Dubliner, enjoyed a high-rolling evening at the Ultra 88 night club (Swingers style), and seen Def Leppard from the front row of the Mohegan Sun Arena! All of this action is only 45 minutes from my home!

..If you're a very proper or uptight person: i.e. If you go to church more than once a week or object to eating meat on moral grounds I'm not the guy for you. On the other hand, if you want a guy who is witty, intelligent, clever, and who's both classy and crass -- someone who is still a guy -- then drop me a line. I promise you will never be bored! On the other hand, I am not reckless. If you enjoy doing drugs, I'm not interested. What I love most is to have fun and make people laugh!

I'm a proud fan of John Valby . I've seen him about a dozen times since my first in 2001. I have all 20 of his albums, and I've driven as far as 100 miles to see him in North Adams, Massachusetts.
Incidentally, on my way into North Adams I got to see what is known as the famous " Hairpin Turn ." I thought turns like this only existed in movies, but this one is real. You don't want to drive this when you're drunk. Failing to make the turn means either crashing into solid rock or flying down a cliff. If you’ve had a few it might be better just to sleep in your car for a little while.

I also really enjoy a band called Wicked Peach . Sometimes, Ernie from Wicked Peach and Dan from Sugar Daddy Band get together to do a duo called "2 Cat Zoo." As entertaining in their personalities as they are talented with their music, I sometimes have to do some driving to get to their events, but it always is worth it.

As selfish as I am, I do sometimes do nice things for others. I have donated more than 200 units of platelets at the American Red Cross. How is this possible? Don’t you have to wait 56 days between donations? NO. That is only after donating whole blood. I give platelets through a special procedure called apheresis , where they hook me up to a machine via two needles. The blood goes out one arm, they take the platelets out, and return everything else thats red cells, plasma, and white cells back to me through the other arm. You can only do this at a Red Cross blood center, not at a drive at your workplace or local church. This takes about 1-2 hours, so they put a DVD on for me, and then give me a sandwich afterward. Dinner and a movie! To find upcoming blood drives, click here for Connecticut , Massachusetts , and anywhere else .
I was a regular contributor to Radio 104, which was a modern rock station here in Hartford. In the summer of 2003 it changed format, and is now a hip-hop and urban station that I never listen to. However, prior to this change, from 1999 to 2002, the morning show was excellent, hosted by none other than the lead singer of Twisted Sister, Dee Snider. The show was called Dee Snider Radio, and Dee was accompanied by "Dark Side" Dave Wallace, Psycho Dan, Sean, Nick Lentino, Mudbone, and Beth Lockwood. Dee fondly referred to his listeners as his "peeps", and official DEE euro stickers could be seen on fans' vehicles around Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. The Dee Snider Show gave way to Bubba the Love Sponge. Contrary no doubt to the expectations of Radio 104 program director Todd Thomas, Bubba the Love Sponge received a very slim listener base as compared to Bubba's predecessor. The show only lasted a year on Radio 104 before the station was trashed entirely and converted to a completely different format. Bubba the Love Sponge was crude, foul, disgusting, and not at all funny. Contrast that to the Dee Snider Show, which was a little bit dirty, but was clever and classy in its bawdiness. In addition, he discussed a number of serious topics on his show, appealing to his listeners' intellectual sides as well. Many of the old Radio 104 personalities from other shifts have moved to KC101, another Clear Channel station, most notably the lovely Chaz and the very manly Carlito.
I have a page at FaceBook so be sure to look me up there as well. I have a number of photos from my school that I think you will enjoy.

Finally, as of April of 2006, I became a member of Mensa . Apparently I did well enough on my SATs to join. I’ve gone to a couple events and had some good times and stimulating discussions, but let me tell you, some Mensans are very unusual people.

Also, I am a big fan of the men's Bucknell Bison basketball team. I try to go to games when I can; besides a few home games, so far I've been to contests at Yale University, Army Military Academy, Holy Cross, and Colgate University. This year (2007-2008) we didn't do so well, losing to Colgate in the semifinal of the Patriot League tournament, and closing the season 12-19 overall (6-8 league). However, in some previous years we have advanced to the NCAA tournament, and have won in the first round against Kansas (2005) and Arkansas (2006), but losing to Wisconsin and Memphis, respectively, in the second round.
When you're finished, be sure to take My Cool Quiz . A high score gets you my deepest admiration!

Television:

I don't watch too much TV, but when I do here it is. Some of these shows are old, but I like them anyhow.

SHOWS: RENO 911!, The Daily Show With John Stewart, South Park, All in the Family, Married… With Children, Blind Date, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (Regis Philbin only), Ren & Stimpy, Beavis 'N Butt-Head, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Dragnet, the news

CHANNELS: Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, History Channel, CNN, MTV videos

Television I definitely don't care about: any "reality" show or other show that relies on people backstabbing each other for drama, such as Survivor, The Bachelor, Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire, or Elimidate.
