Chad Shoopman, originally from Tucson, Arizona, is a professional trumpet player and conductor in the Central Florida area. He is an artist for Powell Signature Trumpets and Warburton Mouthpieces where he designed the "Shoop" lead mouthpiece. Aside from performing regularly as lead trumpet for the Walt Disney World Co., Chad is also the lead trumpet player for The Chuck Owen Jazz Surge Big Band, affording him the opportunity to work with artists such as Gordon Goodwin, Bob Brookmeyer, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, and Chick Corea. He can also be heard playing with the Sam Rivers RivBea Orchestra and the Dan McMillion Groovin' High Big Band with whom he has recorded 4 albums. Along with his big band work, Chad can also be heard on pops concerts for The Florida Orchestra and The Naples Philharmonic. His most recent pops performances were with Patti Austin and Ann Hampton Callaway. Chad also has the honor of working with Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band as a sub for Wayne Bergeron and Dan Fornero. An avid studio trumpet player, Chad has done numerous recordings for Disney shows and theme parks all over the world. He can also be heard on the Danny Elfman soundtrack to the motion picture "Extreme Measures" and the opening of the 2007 Rose Bowl Parade with Kristen Chenoweth. Most recently, Chad played lead trumpet for the hr-Big Band in Frankfurt, Germany getting to work with amazing artists like Brian Lynch, Donald Harrison, Regina Carter, and Clueso. Along with an active trumpet playing career, Chad is also a freelance conductor, clinician, and adjudicator. As a clinician for Disney's Magic Music Days, every year he has the privilege of working with and conducting over 100 high school and college bands and orchestras from all over the world. He is also a Conductor for Disney's Candlelight Processional performed every night throughout the holiday season at Epcot featuring a 75 piece orchestra and 300 person choir. Chad graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education ('96) and a Master's degree in Conducting Performance ('99) from the University of Arizona. He now resides in Orlando, Florida with his wife Susan.
