This is a page in memory of my dad who passed Christmas Day 2006 after a 6 month battle to Lung Cancer that had spread to his liver and bones. He lost his mother 6 days before he passed to cancer of the bile duct. My dad and my grandma were both very important to our family. I sure am gonna miss those holiday dinners with these two, and if you have ever been to one, which many have, you know what I mean! The Messer holidays will never be the same! They meant the world to us and to lose basically half of my family in a week was tough to take and still to this day almost 8 months later, its unreal. Dad was an amazing man, and thats a understatement of Phillip Messer. He was a barber here in Cary at his barbershop, South Hills Barbershop until the end of May of 2006 when he literally overnight became very ill. He was a strong man with a huge heart. His family was what he lived for. He had many, many friends. I did not have a clue, how special he was to SOOOOO many people until his wake, when I stood by him for 3 and a half hours while a line of people passed me in memory of him. It was amazing and made me even more proud to be his daughter. I still can not believe he is gone. He was the backbone of the family for sure, and made everything funny and interesting. He turned the worst situation into something funny somehow. It wasnt often you didnt see a smile on his face, or some crazy smirk. He believed in everyone, he saw the best out of everyone, he always thought there was good in people, even if they proved him wrong he felt there was. NOTHING will ever be the same. I could type forever about things I want to say about him, and things I wish I could of said to him, but all that matters is he will always be in our hearts and others as well, and he was a good man, who deserved more life. Its truly a shame he had to leave in the manner he did, I know its a shame that anyone has to leave this earth. But he was my dad and words can not explain......He leaves behind a son, Derrick, a daughter (ME!) Kristie, the love of his life (besides me, his star haha) Charlotte and two grandchildren Justin and Ashley who love him so, as well as many friends, aunts and cousins. WE MISS YOU!
Flowers we threw out in the ocean for his birthday this year on April 2.
