Marg Helgenberger

Our favorite leading lady was born in Fremont Nebraska on November 16 1958 as Mary Margaret Helgenberger. But we all know her today as Marg (pronounced with a hard “g”) Helgenberger. She is the middle of three children born to her mother Kay, and father Hugh. Marg attended college majoring in speech and drama all the while holding two jobs. A meat packer by day and a weather girl on a local TV station by night.
But it wasn’t until a scout for the television soap opera “Ryan’s Hope” attended the university’s production of “The Taming of the Shrew” where Marg was noticed for her portrayal of the character Kate, and in turn offered her a role. Marg made her debut on the soap opera in March of 82 playing Siobhan Ryan Novak until 1986. It was also on “Ryan’s Hope” where Marg met fellow actor Alan Rosenberg.
Marg continued with small guest roles in television and TV movies until landing a permanent role on the series “China Beach” portraying KC Koloski. Marg kept busy, marring actor Alan in 1989, winning an Emmy for her role as KC Koloski, and giving birth to her son Hugh in 1990. After her run on “China Beach” Marg appeared in such movies as “The Tommyknockers,” “The Cowboy Way,” “Bad Boys,” “Species,” as well has several independent films and made for TV movies.
Marg appeared back on the prime television scene on “ER,” where she played Karen Hines, a potential love interest for George Clooney. From there she appeared alongside Steven Segal in “Fire Down Below,” “My Fellow Americans” with James Garner and Jack Lemmon, John Ritter in “Lethal Vows,” and she once again reprised her role as Dr. Laura Baker in “Species 2.” Mrs. Helgenberger gained attention and critical acclaim when she portrayed Patsy Ramsey in the made for TV movie, “Perfect Murder, Perfect Town: JonBenét and the City of Boulder.”
Her biggest role on the big screen was staring opposite Julia Robert in the blockbuster hit “Erin Brockovich” as Donna Jensen, a whole struck my diease from chemicals in the a small towns water supply. This role also gave her a nomination for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award in the category of Favorite Supporting Actress
But most people know her as her alter ego, Catherine Willows on CBS’s “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” Her portrayal of the single mom CSI has earned Marg several Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG nominations. As well has a win for Favorite Female TV Star for the People’s Choice Awards and along with several CSI cast wins.
Most recently you can see Marg as Ann Foreman in “In Good Company” and as Emma Brooks in “Mr Brooks” starring Kevin Costner as a serial killer.
Marg is a long time supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness which comes as no shock seeing as how her mother is a 27 year survivor.
