Akosua Elisha is a child of the 80's born in Miami Beach, raised in Kiel, Germany blessed with jamaican roots and afrikan spirit. Though the meaning of her european name "Kerrin- the pure one" suits her in a way at this stage of life experience and considering what is still to come.. Akosua chose to put it aside and reclaim her REAL name. Since words are spirits (!) a name is much more than just 'what they call you'. To return to her original source which is to find in the Motherland Afrikah she also had to let go of her last name "Henry"... never belonged to her in the first place. But still it was given to her for a reason 'cause Henry's origin is in Germany. So there Akosua finds herself growing up in the very north in the heart of europe raised by a jamaican- german family.
Everything DOES happen for a reason.
... And yeah sure, going to school as a black girl in germany can be hard a lot of times... blahblah.... but yes, it made her who she is today and so forth. Spirit is part of you before birth and it cannot be changed or broken!
Since her mother urged her to do ballet at a very young age she was introduced to the theatre and soon had a small but admired role in the opera "The Cavalier of the Rose" and in ballet plays like "Die Puppenfee". Of course Akosua did not leave out the opportunity to sing in school bands and african gospel choirs until she and her friends formed their first band called "A Touch Of Class". The four girls were around the age of 14-16 years, ambitioned but never passed having more than one show in hamburg, gaswerk. Being the writer of the band Akos discovered her love for poetry and likes to combine the spoken and sung word with one another so they can become friends and work together...

I can be heared humming in the night
My hair is springy as the forest grasses
Through the darkness of my being in a clear pool I see my face...
Know my knowing"
