Excruciating Thoughts started in 2000 when guitarists Nigel Curley and Ty Moir started putting together their ideas and riffs. After the first song was complete the search for more members started. Unable to find new members at the time, they resorted to using a drum machine. Later that year punk drummer Shemp voluntered to play. After a dozen or so jams, Adam Kennedy said he wanted to play bass because his last band disbanded. Together now as a group of four, they played various cover songs and a few of their own songs. This did not last for long. Shemp was to busy with his other punk band and things weren't going so smooth, so practices didn't happen any more.
In 2001 Nigel bought a set of drums and jams begain between Nigel and Ty swithching back in forth between the guitar and drums. Jams went on for a couple of months before Ryan Corvari decided he was going to play the bass for the band.
Now as a three piece, more songs were written and also more cover songs were learned. Nigel and Ty were still swithching it up on the drums and guitar usually playing half hour to an hour sets each. The three piece was still incomplete they invisioned how much better the band would be if only Nigel and Ty could both be playing guitar and have a more solid drummer. In late 2001 Adam Kenndy (former bass player) heard that we were searching for a new drummer. Adam came over to one of the jams to give it his best. Unsure on the decision if he would play for the band or not another month or two went by. In January 2002 Adam joined the band and serious practices started twice a week. Four songs were written by this time: Excruciating Thoughts, Necrotic Zombie, Engraved, Fucking Run. Also multiple cover songs were played. After months of practicing with this final line up more songs were written and Excruciating Thoughts were now ready for shows. The first show was at the Whippet Lounge in London, Ontario and the reaction was great.
Excruciating Thoughts was in need of recorded material so they decided to record there first demo which was self titled. March 2003 they recorded this live of the floor with a four track line mixer strait into a single track on the computer and vocals were added in after. A full year went by before ever recording anything else, Shawn Monroe from New Moon Studios called the band and said he would record us a single for free. March 2004 we jumped at the chance to get in the studio and recorded the track Mental Cleansing. Now Excruciating Thoughts is writting new material and getting ready to record a full length CD. Expect the most agressive and technical material from Excruciating Thoughts yet to date. The sickness is about to begin...
