Steve "Red" Lasner: Born on July 5,1959
I remember the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show as the moment that launched my music career. I told my Mom, “That’s what I want to be when I grow up!â€I received my first guitar in September 1966 from my Grandfather Ira Brown and began a lifelong learning process. My Grandfather made me an amp too, it was mid 60’s so solid state electronics was a new technology. My Grandfather bought the parts at Lafayette Radio Electronics and built them into a small plastic box and built a speaker cabinet with a 12 inch speaker.I studied with Pat Mahoney as a child in New Jersey, Sandy Devito in Florida 1980’s and recently completed 5 years of study here in Tampa Bay with Brad Carlton of TrueFire.com and Guitar Player Magazine fame.
I have performed onstage since the early Seventies, and have shared the stage with many greats such as Buddy Miles, Jeff Berlin, Lucky Peterson, John Sebastian and many more.My other instruments include bass, drums, keyboards, and harmonica.I founded the Soulshakers in 1990, and soon after met Wendy Rich and have worked with her live and in the studio ever since.I also hosted the longest running blues Jam in Pinellas County "The Tampa Bay Blues Jam" at the Ringside Cafe which lasted for 17 years! This year I moved the jam to it’s new home Gulfport On The Rocks in Gulfport Florida.My newest venture is live internet broadcasting, with plans for a series of interactive guitar lessons and a livecast shows that will be an artist showcase featuring live musical performance from a variety of artists.
